Kalahari Convention Center — Attraction in Tobyhanna Township

So I think they have separate businesses listed on Google Maps for the hotel, park, and convention center. This review is specifically for the convention center. Obviously the convention itself including the expo and the speakers is not related to Kalahari so this review is specifically on the location.

The Expo Hall space was large but they were very slow to refill the water dispensers throughout the expo and there was no water in the hallway near session rooms. The coffee that was in the hallway was empty within 10 minutes of the start of the day and also very slow to refill.

In the water park they have those filtered bottle filling stations above the water fountains but there weren't even water fountains in the convention center.

I know that this convention center is attached to a water park and such but to be charged $5 for a can of soda when the food is already $15 for chicken fingers that were sitting in a warming tray is just disgusting. Many of us found it easier to walk all the way down the hallway to the water parks food court rather than purchase the food that was in the convention center.

The Wi-Fi in the session rooms was terrible and almost non-existent. There were two networks one for presenters and one for attendees but neither network was strong. Luckily for presenters they also had a CAT5 to hardwire...

Tasteless Hamburger was $22, Fish, 2 potatoes & Spinach at the Italian restaurant to feed a 5 year old was $38! High way robbery at it's BEST!

Bedroom NOT acceptable! Sink surrounded by microwave & cofee pot was in the middle of the bed room! This is a hazard!

Tiny bathroom with only a toilet! One has to brush his/her teeth in the sink next to the microwave & coffee pt.

African decor was OK - gift shop needs authentic African Artifacts. Theme is Africa but there is NO African sound to be heard anywhere in the resort!!! Afrobeat is needed bad in this resort. Horrible, horrible music ... please look into this. You are not representing the African sound that goes with your African theme!

The Water park was ok especially the wave pool. Again - NO African sound in the water park area. Some games in the water park were closed/not functioning!

I will NOT be visiting apain. Very disappointed. Nothing special for the money spent ... please save your money and visit...

A spectacular trip! What a cool place to go whether with family or friends. The staff at Kalahari aim to please. Challenge yourself to a daring water slide by yourself, or grab a couple friends to go on a tube with you. Or if that’s not your thing, have a drink at the swim up bar.

This place is absolutely ginormous, so get ready to walk. I was there for a convention, and everything was seamless.

Lots of food options too! The rooms were very neat and clean.

A couple of downsides: -they don’t let you bring a phone or camera on the slides. At first I didn’t understand, but then when I tried to cowboy up that ride like a bull, I completely understood. I was hanging on to that handles for dear life -the food options aren’t open very late, so if you want to eat and hang out with a couple of insomniacs, you’re going to have to get food elsewhere outside...
