Hertel Jewelers — Attraction in Town of Amherst

I searched around for a good jeweler in October of 2017 to have a necklace made for my girlfriend's birthday and ended up going to Hertel Jewelers. I went to several jewelers around Buffalo and all of them seemed to have a bit of an attitude and/or had outrageous prices, but when I arrived here and met Jim, the owner, I liked him right away. He was super helpful and we discussed the design I was thinking of and talked about the price. He ended up making me a diamond and marquis cut sapphire necklace. A couple months later I went back to have him make me matching earrings. So this Christmas I went back again and found a beautiful bracelet that Jim had made that matched her set. Jim has always been polite and super helpful with any questions I've had. He has an obvious talent for jewelcrafting and can design just about anything. So I therefore highly recommend at least visiting the store, meeting with Jim and discussing any jewelry related items with him before you go anywhere else. My (now wife) found an engagement ring she loved on a foreign website, but there was no way I was comfortable making such an important purchase in that manner. I took the photo to a few local jewelers and they were gonna send out the image to other people who would put it in a computer and so on. I walked into Hertel Jewelers, Jim and I spoke and he explained how he would make it in house by hand. I thought that buying a hand made ring that I knew was locally made was awesome so we moved forward. Long story short, my wife and I both couldn’t be happier. Jim was polite, down to earth and great to work with! Jim has this ring process being made on his Facebook page in a series of photos. Absolutely amazing service. I stopped in today to see if I could have a ring cut off, which very few places even wanted to consider. On top of that, it was a fairly thick stainless steel band, and my finger had swollen up from trying to get it off myself. Getting the ring off was a nightmare, but Hertel Jeweler's was absolutely amazing. We tried every possible option under the sun, and eventually managed to get the ring off. He even did a great on the spot collection appraisal for another walk-in while we were at it. Absolutely hands down amazing service, 10/10...
