Another stop on Main St in Williamsville, NY on Wed evening 9/02/21. The Irishman Pub & Eatery is next to two other popular bar/restaurants on Main St. A pleasant evening w/ many patrons enjoying the last days of summer. Very lucky to find a parking space in their lot at 6pm. There is ample street parking. They have another location in nearby E. Aurora, NY The outdoor area was full so we walked in & sat at the bar. This place is big but welcoming. Front room w/ the bar is broken up, almost like snugs, for quieter conversation. Larger back rooms & the patio out front where there is live music. We were greeted by the charming barman, Paul-a true professional from the start. I started w/ an imperial pint of Guinness-correctly poured-a beautiful site to behold. Tis Herself had a glass of pinot grigio. I started w/ Murphy's Irish Soup - think French onion w/ stout ($7) - excellent. My bride had the traditional potato (+leek soup?) ($6) - also excellent. Dinner was fish & chips ($17) for me and she had the Irish spring rolls- stuffed with corned beef, Swiss cheese, cabbage and our Marie Rose dressing and served with sweet chili sauce for dipping ($11) - a nice twist on these, made fresh, not frozen. You'll find other traditional Irish meals here such as Shepherd's Pie, Bangers & Mashed & Guinness Stew. So a very good & relaxing dinner after our day of exploring. And of course a couple of Jamesons for dessert. the evening total w/ tax & tip was $105. In our opinion a very good value in this neighborhood. Please indulge my memory as we didn't get an itemized receipt. A truly fine public house. Paul is an excellent barman and made us feel welcome on our first visit to The Irishman. We had been to The Irishman on a previous trip to Buffalo, NY. This was only 10 minutes from our hotel near the airport. Thursday evening June 8, 2023. As usual the place was filling up inside and out. Customers were enjoying the live music in the rear bar area. Our server at the bar was Corinne M. We ordered our drinks while we looked over the menu. A 9oz pour of Ruffino pinot grigio was $12. and my imperial pint of Guinness (20 oz US) was $8.75. My bride had an arugula & goat cheese salad w/ added grilled chicken ($17+$8). This was a big dinner salad. I had the tangy shrimp tacos (2-$17.) They also offer full dinners of traditional Irish fare & pub grub. Service was a bit slow but it was a full house indoors & out. But a good place to stop on a bustling Main St with many other options. We can recommend this place for visitors or locals See you on our next trip. Thank you & Slainte. Nick &...
Read moreThis review is focused on the Irishman's banquet services. If you're looking for a review of the regular restaurant experience, there are other reviews that will help you more than this one. Anyhow, we were planning an event for the summer of 2021 and needed a banquet space with catering. We were having a hard time finding a suitable place. We didn't immediately think of the Irishman because we basically perceived it as simply an Irish pub with decent bar food. Not a bad place, but not someplace we'd have immediately thought of for an event. But, their website came up when we were searching for options. We went ahead and reached out to Maria - the Irishman's banquet contact. She responded promptly and professionally. We asked questions (Maria was great with communication). We then met with Maria in person, saw the backroom and the lovely back patio area, and proceeded to book our event. Maria adjusted the food and drink package to meet our preferences, without nickel and diming us and finding excuses for big up-charges. There were even vegan options included. The quoted price was very reasonable. It's also worth mentioning that Maria was on top of the changing COVID-19 rules, which definitely helped to alleviate some added stress. When the big day finally arrived, our event was a success! But, it was more than just a success. We were expecting decent food, but ended up with amazing cuisine! The food was incredible! From the bread, to the appetizers, to the main course! The desserts were great too! Although we brought our own cake, we did get some of the Irishman's chocolate peanut butter squares, cannoli, and chocolate chip cookies (these were top-notch, bakery-quality items). The Irishman is capable of so much more than what you may be used to if you've eaten in their restaurant. I've been to various events (weddings, birthdays, business conferences, etc.) at other banquet halls. The Irishman's banquet food quality is better than most (definitely up there with the best of the best)! The service was great too. Another lady (whose name I can't recall) supervised the actual banquet staff directly and made sure things ran smoothly. I just have two regrets. One is that I didn't leave this review sooner. Two is that, because a gratuity was automatically added on to the bill (as per our contract) I didn't think to add on some extra money to supplement the automatic gratuity when I cashed out. The service was so good that, in hindsight, I should have been more thoughtful and added on some...
Read moreWent there last night because they had open patio seating. The patio was full. We sat for awhile before the waitress, Susan, came to take our order. Ordered a round of drinks and dinner at the same time because I didn't want to wait on ordering dinner because it took so long for her to come in the first place. She was very pleasant, took our order. A long time passed and still no drinks. I asked her, very nicely, would the drinks be coming soon. She replied "he's making them, I placed the order, I can't jump behind the bar and make them" What? Who says that to a customer? Ok, my father in law ordered a side salad with his reuben and my husband ordered the entree caesar salad with steak in it. My husbands entree came out ahead of all the entrees and my father in laws side salad came out, and I questioned that it was the same size as my husbands entree salad. She said all the salads are the same size. Doubtful! My husband indicated he didn't want his entree before everyone elses came. My husbands salad had no steak in it. We let it go because it would probably be another hour to get the steak put in it. Then the bill comes and my husband was charged for caesar with steak and my father in law was charged for his reuben, plus an entree salad. Had to take the salad off his bill. BTW, the salad -- not so good. Anyway, I don't know what was going on -- understaffed? The waitress was really nice but should never have made that comment to me. We are in food service, and we know how it's supposed to roll. Not a good...
