You know, I always told myself Aldi was like that one toxic friend: you put up with their nonsense because they occasionally give you a good deal on avocados. I drop my daughter off at school, swing by for some produce, tolerate the subpar service, get my deals, and go on my way.
But today… today was different.
After politely asking a teenager (who, let’s be honest, was probably promoted to management after her second shift) for permission to grab a cart near the register, I proceeded like the responsible produce hunter I am. Suddenly, out of nowhere, enters The Aldi Enforcer — tall, skinny, glasses, and radiating the fragile authority of a hall monitor who just caught someone chewing gum.
He ran up on me like I had just committed grand larceny, and in front of a crowd of fellow banana shoppers, proceeded to publicly scold me for daring to touch one of their carts — the same cart I had just been given permission to use. The level of absurdity was breathtaking. I genuinely thought I was on a hidden camera show.
Normally, this is the part where I would’ve verbally (and in the past physicall) folded him into a human pretzel — but frankly, the scene was so ridiculous I just started laughing and walked out. Sometimes the circus is its own entertainment.
Sadly, Aldi, our relationship has run its course. I’ll have to find another spot where I can buy cheap produce without the bonus round of public...
Read moreI just had the WORST shopping experience I have ever had. The manager SHAWN has no business dealing with human beings. SHAWN should get a job in corporate alone behind a desk because he might be the least helpful person I have ever dealt with. The order I placed online was cancelled by the store. I went inside to ask for the manager and I was directed to SHAWN. He told me curbside pickup ends at 5:30. I insisted on the website pickup times end at 7:00. He told me I was wrong. I went online, found the pickup times and showed him the website that clearly stated 7:00. SHAWN used his radio to ask someone else, who told him curbside ends at 7:00. He arrogantly and proudly told me that because I came THREE MINUTES LATE, at 7:03, "they had every right to cancel the order". Think about that. SHAWN was boasting that he got me on a technicality, not caring that he lost the store over $200 in revenue and I no longer feel welcome. Not a single apology from SHAWN that I was inconvenienced, just arrogant dismissal. After shopping at Aldi in North Babylon since it opened about 5 years ago I am considering shopping at LIDL, which is about 5 minutes away. BTW, I have given every shopper at Aldi 5 star reviews but this one incident put such a bad taste in my mouth I wrote a 1...
Read moreUnbelievable how a manager treats customers after an employee accused me of lying. I had gotten on line with about 6 people ahead, after 3 had completed their purchase the cashier tells me not to get on her line her light is odd(as she was turning it off while she spoke) that there was another lane opened, I let her know I had been on the line for a fre minutes already, I only had a fee items anyway, she started yelling at me loud enough to get the manager involved who made an ass of himself ass u me ING his cashier wasn't making a mistake. I told her I hadn't just walked over, she began yelling yes you did, I went to walk to the other register the manager realized he made a mistake and told me go back to her she will take me, at that point I told him I refused to go to her, I put items on the Belt by the other cashier, the manager followed continuing, so I ended up telling him I don't have patience for inference, and do not need to spend my money there. This was so uncalled for, the manager took it to a level he should be ashamed of taking a lying cashiers word over a customer that he can go check his cameras to see the truth. This was taken to a level it should have never gone. It...
