If you value your health you will AVOID this medical practice at all costs. Back in June I was prescribed an over active bladder medication by my gynecologist. Three days into it I began to have rapid heart beat and severe shortness of breath. I went looking for a PCP to hopefully get to the bottom of it since the gynecologist who prescribed the medication denied that there could be any relation. I went in and never even got to a see a real Dr, nope I got to see the ever so lovely Enbal PA, I use the term lovely lightly because I almost died in her care. After telling her my symptoms and that I was feeling run down she was convinced I had bronchitis and prescribed me 500mg's of LEVOFLOXACIN. For those of you who don't know, Levofloxacin is used to treat people who have been exposed to Anthrax!I supposedly had Bronchitis but she prescribed me something to treat ANTHRAX. Another lovely side effect? No it didn't stop there, but she was also convinced that she heard a murmur in my heart, and that I had to have a blood clot in my lungs so I needed a CT with contrast IMMEDIATELY. For some reason she also wanted to have my Thyroid checked....conveniently the place to have my heart and thyroid ultrasound was on property right down the hall. No blood clot, of course! Oh and for future reference, they also did a urine test where she told me I had blood in it but that's where the communication about that stopped, she actually had the gall to ask me if I knew about it..because I have the ability to test my urine at home at the drop of the hat! As the week went by my health deteriorated RAPIDLY. By the end of that week I could barely walk from my living room to the kitchen without having to sit to catch my breath. I started to believe I had COPD. That Sunday night, just five days after seeing this PA, I could start to hear my heart in my ears, I couldn't breath, my hands, feet and face all went numb and I was rushed in the middle of the night to Southside Emergency room. Here's where it gets great! When I got into the emergency room my heart rate was OVER 200! I'm 27, why is my heart rate over 200 you ask!? While I was at Southside I got the best of care! Including a urine check every half hour! As well as a blood test! Turns out I was on the verge of a little something call UROSEPSIS. Yepp, I was on the verge of Sepsis! When the doctor on call asked me if I'd known I'd had a UTI, I answered no, I had no obvious symptoms so how could I know? None the less, if I had let this fester another day or two, I wouldn't be writing this review right now. Ready for another kicker? In rushing me to the hospital my Mom remembered to bring the drugs Enbal had prescribed me and the doctor was flabbergasted as to why I was on them. My lungs were clear, there were no sounds of a murmur in my heart! And the first words out of his mouth? "..This is used to treat Anthrax, why would they prescribe you this? We never prescribe this! Especially if you had, had bronchitis!" Maybe this is why she's a PA and not an actual doctor? Because clearly she can't diagnose or prescribe. Two days later after being released I went for a follow up check up and to get my test results for the week prior. She couldn't give them to me over the phone because she leaves after 1:15. The first words out of Enbals mouth? "Oh! I just had a drug rep in here for Myrbetriq and shortness of breath and rapid heartbeat aren't symptoms!" it literally says it on the box, commercial and website...but what do I know? When we told her about our experience at Southside she laughed it off and was disheartened that they'd switched my meds saying that the Anthrax meds should have killed the UTI. According to her I do have nodules on my Thyroid, and as for my shortness of breath and rapid heartbeat I'm far to young for that and recommended a stress test never did get my urine results from her.
Update: response was completely inaccurate. I don’t know whose chart she memorized it it wasn’t mine. Fact check doc! Avoid at all...
Read moreI want to start out by saying I love both physicians I see, Ryan and Amy are both great! I seen Dr. Hertz a couple times for surgical clearance. Had no real issues, he was straightforward, and quick, only thing i thought was a little odd was both time he kind of just disappeared without any notice, after waiting a little I just eventually made my way to the front deck since he never came back. They were just clearance appointments so I didn’t think much of it. BUT the real reason I am give a low review is the rest of the staff & apparently office policies. Every time I attempt to call the office I am immediately put on home and left to wait 10+ mins just to get disconnected and have to start all over back on hold for another 10-15 mins just to ask a simple question or make an appointment. When you finally do get a person 9/10 times it someone with an attitude with no ability to actually help. It seem the phone always get passed to Robert. Who is another saving grace to this office. is kind, professional and helpful; unlike ANY of the girl working at the desk. They are too busy gossiping like it’s the high school cafeteria to provide adequate help or actually pick up a phone. I have sat in the waiting room listening to them chat and chat ignoring ringing phones, until someone els finally came in to answer it. Then when they do decide to do their job they are rude and very unhelpful. It took 6 months of back and forth and issues just to get a copy of my own records. Ultimately, after half a year of issues/lies from women at the desk, I by passed them and it was done right away by going directly to my doctor with the issues. And the icing on the cake? I wait at-least an hour MINIMUM in the waiting room past my appointment time to actually be called in. Once, after sitting and waiting patiently for an hour and twenty minutes I asked when I would be seen as my appointment was well passed; I was responded to with an attitude and was told “appointments are triple booked I don’t know what you want me to do about it, everyone has to wait.. than said I was next anyway” .. Apparently Next meant after 2 other patients (another 20 mins later). I have also checked in for appointments sat and waited over an hour just to go up and find out they never actually set the appointment. (Even tho I had the card they wrote out for me with the appointment that THEY SET in person)… I can go on forever with all the BS I’v gone through with the staff at this office… but the ACTUAL physicians I have no complaints at all! Ryan is very professional, extremely kind, very personable, and easy to talk to. And Amy is a very kind, helpful, professional and understanding…. Long story short, expect long waits and little help from the “teenagers” at the desk.. save yourself the headache and lies and just ask for Robert if you actually need help with something… the two starts in my rating are strictly for Amy, Ryan, and Robert!!
Edit/addition: Within an hour of posting this review I received call from Dr. Hertz’s office. informing me that Dr. Hertz has seen my review & I was basically fired as a patient from their office. I spoke directly with with Amy and she assured me that my meds would be taken care of till I found a new provider, but when it came time for refills I called the office & They said they already removed me as a patient and can’t help me. They refused to fill any of my meds. I wasn’t able to get an appointment with a psychiatrist quick enough and had a lapse in multiple medications The office manager seems to take great pleasure in telling me no each time. While I am not surprised by the rudeness of this office, I truly am disappointed with the lack priority that is truly put on patient care. I, like I’m sure countless others rely on them heavily to maintain my health. I suffer from several permanent (debilitating) conditions that leave me fairly reliant on my health care team...Perhaps some issues at this office extends beyond the front desk staff like I originally...
Read moreI am not one to write reviews. However this experience bothered me so much that I must put this out there. I tried calling the office to speak to the manager to express my concerns and talk about my experience & I was given the turnaround. I booked an appt. at this office based on the Zocdoc reviews I read here stating great customer service, great bedside manners and I can confirm this does not exist here. I literally experience a horrible time at this office as a first time patient. I arrived 30 mins early to my appointment in case they needed me to sign complete any paperwork. I sat in the waiting room for a hour and half before being called in.
Then I waited another 30 mins in the consultation room waiting for the doctor to come. The doctor finally came to the room. He was a nice man however, I felt like he was brushing me off. I stated my reasons for coming and wanted to run by some concerns I had. He assessed me ask me a few questions, then told me follow me. We walked to the hallway, he made a phone call and then gave me a paper and told me he was going to refer me to get a exam then shook my hand.
I then told him but I’m not done with the consultation, I wanted to address some other health concerns I had. He then said ok what else? He didn’t even take me back to the consultation room he had me address my concern in a public hallway. That felt very uncomfortable for me. He then said I will send your prescriptions to the pharmacy and wants to see me in 2 weeks and walks away.
So I figured okay, I guess ill go to the front desk to schedule my appointment for 2 weeks. The girls in the front desk are so unpleasant & have a huge attitude towards patients. There was no one standing in the front desk but me. I was standing for 5 mins, and I had to tell the girl hello in order for her to assist me. She then says yes- I tell her that I wanted to schedule a appt. She does it then tosses me a card with the appt date and walks away. No ok you’re all set, thank you, nothing.
Fine- I then go to my pharmacy to pick up my meds they said they didn’t receive anything. I go to the pharmacy the next day, they claim they didn’t receive anything. I call the doctor’s office, this girl named Erica answers the phone in a rude tone and then gives me attitude that my med was sent to the pharmacy. I explained I went the day before and am currently there and they don’t have it. If she can please help me. She said we already sent it yesterday. I then asked can you please send it again. She said she did. 15 mins passed they didn’t receive anything. The pharmacy was nice enough to try to call the office to obtain the medicine. They called 4 times- 2 times they were redirected to a machine by the front desk. The other two times, they were left on hold and then hung up.
I was already furious because this office staff is not being efficient in helping facilitate with this process. So I called again demanding to speak to a office manager & was given attitude and told why do I need to speak with a office manager. I reiterated again my concerns and was told we sent it yesterday. The fact isn’t that you sent it yesterday. The fact is that you guys are giving me the turn around and not helping me get my medicine. I was then transferred to a MA , who I had to tell her I was going to transfer her to the pharmacist so that they can get the prescription.
Staff members of this office- you are in the patient care field. This means you have to be friendly, patient, and respectful to the patients you are dealing with. Do not take your frustrations on the patients because you are miserable. That is not fair to anyone. Do a career change if you are not happy. I highly recommend that you do not waste your time visiting this office. It’s a horrible experience don’t waste your time & go elsewhere. You are treated poorly , unprofessional & they want you to take unnecessary tests...
