At first glance, the restaurant looks beautiful till the moment you sit down.
It was a Saturday night, after a long day of work, I was absolutely famished and wanting to date my lovely girlfriend out to dinner. We had order Izumi to go before and thoroughly enjoyed the food. Upon arriving to pick up our food we had thought the place looked really nice and told ourselves "We have to come back here to sit down and eat one day" and so we did.
Upon arrival, the hostess sat us down and we're both excited to have our food and drinks. The second we we're sat down, our waiter 'John' greets us immediately to take our drink order. When I say immediately, I don't think I took more than 2 breaths before the man approaches our table. Okay, fine the guy likes to get things done, but we tell the man "Please give us a moment, we are still thinking." And there forth, things only begin to get worse.
Moments later, we are ready to place our order, and John comes back again. We place our orders of drinks, appetizers, and our entrées. We tell him everything we would like, and he looks puzzled but continues on. As some time passes, we get our soups, drinks and appetizers. As our appetizers come out, John GIVES US OUR BILL. Confused, my girlfriend and I look at each other and haven't even got our entrées yet. We look at John and say, "we haven't even got our food yet...". John looks at us, picks up the bill book and in shame buries his face in the bill book and walks away.
Some time passes, and we finally get our entrées, but one thing is missing... the plate of sushi my girlfriend ordered. This makes me think of why John looked to confused when he took our order. At this point I'm feeling annoyed. Not only did things go wrong once, but twice. It seemed he has called another waitress to help as he stopped serving our table and another lady took over. We tell the lady how we are missing an order of sushi, and she comes back with an empty plate asking if this was the sushi we ordered but indeed it was not. Moments later, we finally get all the missing pieces of the order. We get desert and get the bill for the food we had order and not just the soup and appetizers.
In conclusion, I will not be returning to Izumi in West Babylon. I have never faced such rushed, unorganized, unprofessional business and did not enjoy my time here. To pay $103 and have such a lack of hospitality and service between two people is beyond belief. Stick to door dashing this place. The looks may be appealing on the outside, but the integrity is lacking...
Read moreThe food is good. The atmosphere is pretty. The short female manager with black hair who is usually behind the bar is what ruins this place. We come here more than often and this is not the first time we have experienced her be extremely rude to her staff which is infuriating as they are doing their best. The last time we were here- she was cursing a bartender to the point where his hands were shaking while serving us due to her berating. We defended the bartender to her, she didnt care. We haven’t seen him. He was great and he was alone with a full bar, give the man some grace. The guests she was mad about leaving, left because of their food order being wrong- not their drinks. She took it out on the poor guy screaming and yelling and cursing and embarrassing him in front of guests. I made it a point to tell her she was wrong. We are here again this evening as it is not the staffs fault…to which point we had a simple question about switching a roll out of Shashimi for two and she decided to come over screaming and pointing at the menu, embarrassing us and then walking away to get behind the bar and yell at more people. It is not a bad place- she just has to go. She pushes people out constantly, we have seen many get up and leave because of her. She should not work here. Her name is Sophie.
Update: After I finished this review she proceeded to come over to the table and say “you asked for my name!?” I said, “yes I did” she then said, “Ok I am here what do you need??” I said, “I need nothing from you as you are rude and came here yelling and pointing at a menu and were good on speaking with you”. She huffed and puffed and stomped away after saying “I am trying to help you” which I said, “helping is not finger pointing on a menu and yelling and then walking away- good night”
I did ask if her name was Sophie and she said “yea you asked about me here I am”
She should not...
Read moreIt was our first trying this restaurant and we’re so excited because we absolutely love hibachi. We were seated right away with two other parties separate from us. It took almost 10 minutes for a server to come over and take our drink orders. When he came back with our drinks, he asked if we were ready to order and we gave him our selections.
It took well over 20 minutes for the chef to show up to our table and prepare our food. We didn’t mind because his show was amazing and he was absolutely amazing! The food he prepared was really good. He was funny as well as entertaining.
Unfortunately, I am giving this restaurant two stars due to the enormous amount of discrimination we received from our waiter, due to the color of our skin. We were the only minorities sitting at the table. Everyone else but us were offered second drinks and asked if everything was okay. We on the other hand were completely ignored by him.
When it was time for the checks we were given our checks last and they picked up our check last. We had the fewest people in our party at the table and were the first ones done eating. When we got our bill we saw they charged us an extra $1 on both our meals. We were the only ones who didn’t get a thank you for dining, and there was no acknowledgement at all.
We were so disappointed with this experience here. We really wanted to like it, because we were thinking of doing our wedding rehearsal dinner here. Each table seats 18 people and we would have needed 4 tables total.
After this whole experience we see that our business is not welcomed here and that a complaint to the better business...
