Babylon Burger Bar — Restaurant in Town of Babylon

On Saturday, 12/16/23 my husband went into this resteraunt to have a what we thought was an upscale burger bar. We didn't wait too long for around the holiday Saturday dinner time. 20 min. We sat down ordered a glass of water and a glass of cabernet. Once the waitress came back we ordered our burgers. Mine was medium well and his was medium. Not too long a wait time for us to get our food. The burgers came and my husband opened his burger which he doesn't do often and removed something from it. I asked what that was and he said he didn't know. It seemed like some sort of plastic to us. He called over the manager. A man walking around the restaurant, I would assume to making sure things were running smoothly. He then told us he'd be right back and carried my husband's meal back to the kitchen. When he came back he apologized and said it was a piece of the chefs glove. He said he'll bring over another burger. He also asked if we wanted another round of drinks which then we said no thank you. As I waited for him to get his burger bc we went out to eat together, I wanted us to eat at the same time. He Brought the burger back and both burgers weren't cooked to how we ordered them. But didn't complain about that. We didn't eat the whole meal after all of that, and The waitress brought the check to us which was the only other time she visited us from when she brought our drinks to us. She Apologized and said that there was a discount on the check. Come to open the check and it was a "theater discount" of $6.02. Basically, the tax of what the whole check was worth. I thoughtvit was a joke. I spoke to a few people one in particular the manager of another restaurant and said the meal should have been compt. The least i would have done as a manager was taken his meal off. I found that discount disrespectful and a real disregard to any customer. I definitely would not go back again and will be spreading the word to my family and friends not to go there. You can get a better burger and service at a diner and better quality to. The "proprietary blend" was basic and not even cooked to your liking. I never write reviews but here we are.

We called 2 times before we arrived because we had a bigger group just to see what the wait was like since they don’t take reservations. We get there and they tell us 30 minutes so we are like okay that’s fine and I’ve been in the food business before so I understand it might be longer. We wait and know that there’s another party a head of us okay again that’s fine. An hour passes and two tables clear up, they can fit us at one of them. But then they don’t so I confront the manager and he tells me he can’t put us there and I explain the situation but he’s not budging and so yes I raise my voice at him because I’m frustrated and so I walk away and tell my family what’s up, so then someone else in my group walks over and he says “oh were you the one yelling at me?” Like dude how can you not remember someone wearing a bright blue jacket versus not and me and my friend do not even look alike. Also is that how you talk to all your guests?? Anyways because my friend talked to the manager, he was able to magically get us a spot wow will you look at that. We sit down, he gives us poutine for free okay cool, but then I hear from two of my friends that the utensils have food on them still. Our waitress, Jess, did great she was very attentive. The food was decent. My friend ordered a medium rare burger it came out well done bruh but again Jess was right on it and fixed it immediately. She really saved us tonight or else this place would have gotten like zero stars. I have been a hostess before so again I get the stress when it’s really busy I really do but why are the hostesses on their phones even when it’s calmed down inside and giving side eye at their guests? I don’t care how tough a customer may be, you keep your head up and smile and deal with it because news flash that’s life. Overall, you can find the same type of food at Burgerology and literally any other burger place. I’d recommend coming here when it’s not so busy and when they care about...

John the bartender is great and makes great cocktails. I called in an order for a Kobe burger which they said came with fries. As I was walking to the car the shopping bag felt light so after checking the box I saw no fries, had to go back in the hostess at the stand asked did I forget something, I replied I was told my Kobe burger came with fries there aren't any in the box,to which she replied are you sure,so I showed her and she had them make them. I left and went back to work ate the fries which were good with ketchup but would have been better with mustard which they didn't" have. Then time for the burger,after one bite I knew something wasn't right, I opened the bread and to my surprise all that was there was a piece of melted cheese and a piece of tomato. I knew the kitchen was closed but the bar supposed to still be open, so I phoned told them the situation and said I was coming for a refund. That I was not paying when The piece de resistance (Kobe burger)was not on the bread. The Gentleman said he had just closed to come Tomorrow and he will make it right with a gift check. I asked if I should bring the bread he said he remembers me from coming back for the fries it wouldn't"t be necessary. When we met I wasn't prepared for Roy that was his name to look at me and asperse that he spoke to his chef or cook he might have used that word and he remembers putting the burgur on the bread.He gave me a gift card which I appreciate, could have given me a burger for have his cook asperse me to him but tomorrow u will bring the bread which I was smart to save but forgot to bring. I am sure the food is good and johnny is a really cool bartender,but being honest is more important! Went there after calling Friday evening to inquire if John was bartending, had to repeat the question 3 times before I got a yes. Next question how late is the bar open 1 am, so why when I got there at 11:53 was the place closed? Not sure they are doing things...
