I’d like to give 2.5 stars if possible. I have highly mixed reactions of this place. Their vintage vinyl is not in great shape and they rarely have anything special. I owned a shop for many years and for the life of me cannot figure out where the “good stuff” is. Also I would NEVER waste valuable floor space with sup par records like they do. I am a collector and audiophile and only want the best of class. There is a place for the $5 records just not that volume in my opinion. Oh yeah, one more thing.... STOP PUTTING STICKERS ON THE ALBUM COVERS AND CLEAN YOUR DAMN RECORDS!!!
Some of the staff is friendly and others indifferent. As an ex shop owner I only have this to say. You work in a record shop for Christ’s sake!!! What’s not to be happy about?!!! As an owner I would be very keen to this and would “adjust” my staff accordingly.
New viny IS expensive at any brick and mortar shop. There is very little profit (usually $5 or so) per record. So stop complaining about their new records pricing. They don’t have much to do about it. I am happy they have the selection of the new vinyl they have. It’s rare these days and expensive to carry...
Read moreWent for the Hozier meet and greet. Hozier was an absolute sweetheart and I have no complaints with him or his company. The store was extremely rude and unprofessional about it though. You are not allowed to have any phone or technology with you for the meet and greets which doesn't happen anywhere else. They claimed it was for time, but it takes no time at all to hand someone your phone. They also upload all of the photos to Facebook and you have no choice about this. If you want the picture you paid for, you have to be okay with your face being uploaded to Facebook.
My friend talked to the manager about this and asked if there was anything else she could do and was told no. I was next in line behind her and after she left the store, the manager and the photographer started making fun of her and mocking her. I'm very grateful that I kept my phone on me, because I was able to record their entire conversation. They were so rude to her.
If you go to any meet and greet here, please be aware of these things. Can't express how much their ridiculous policies and unprofessional and mean behavior dampened...
Read moreI moved to Long Island 3 and a half years ago and this has been my go to local record shop. Of all the places I've visited, this has the biggest and most well organized selection. They do regular in-store signings and have lots of musical trinkets and collectibles in addition to physical media. They even do occasional listening sessions for albums slightly ahead of release. I've found lots of older albums still sealed at great prices. As a Hip Hop fan it's been tough finding many stores with any kind of selection that appeals to me but Looney Tunes boasts a wide range of music across all popular genres from indie to major releases. Sign up for their newsletter and they send cash coupons regularly and even give you a punch card in store for return buyers. It's no wonder this place has been in business for so long. Definitely check it out if you're a music head of any sort. They even sell packaging materials if you need to ship...
