A Truly Disappointing and Unsafe Experience
I recently had one of the worst experiences at this movie theater, and I feel compelled to share my concerns. From the moment we arrived, the issues began. As we parked, we noticed someone smoking marijuana in the car next to usânot a big deal at first. However, upon leaving the theater, we realized this same individual was actually the on-duty security guard(very large black male). Out of curiosity, I approached him for small talk, and the strong odor of marijuana was undeniable. After speaking with him, I learned he was a contract security officer from a company called Buda (or Budha).
In todayâs world, where public safety is more important than ever, itâs both alarming and unacceptable that someone entrusted with security was in no condition to perform their duties. Knowing that the person hired to protect guests was impaired made me question the safety of this establishment.
Unfortunately, the problems didnât stop there. The staff was practically nonexistent, and the concession line was a nightmareâover 30 minutes just to get snacks, causing me to miss part of the movie despite arriving early. The further I ventured into the theater, the worse it got.
The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. Half the sinks and toilets were either broken or out of service. Not a single soap dispenser had soap. The floors, mirrors, and toilets were covered in trash, stains, and urine. This level of neglect is unacceptable for any business, let alone one that serves the public.
Inside the theater, the seats were extremely uncomfortable, making it difficult to enjoy the movie. To make matters worse, the theater left the lights on for nearly 20 minutes into the film before someone had to track down management to fix it.
All in all, this was a truly horrible experience. The lack of security, cleanliness, and basic customer service makes it impossible for me to returnâespecially with my family and loved ones. Until major improvements are made, I cannot in good conscience recommend this...
Read moreI bought 2 tickets today for the 2:30pm showtime of Dune 2 in IMAX: The A/C was blasting on a very cold and rainy day. I spoke to a manager to ask to lower it and was told he couldnât because âit would not make a difference bc the theatre is so big it would take a few hours for the temp adjustment bc the theatre is too bigâ. ??? I guess he had a science degree and knowledge I lacked. After enduring 25 minutes of previews, Ghostbusters started instead of Dune 2! Most of the patrons got up and left thinking they had mistakenly were in wrong theatre; Dune 2 started 10 minutes later BUT with the same previews we had just sat through, but they managed to start Dune 2 after one preview, so a 2:30pm movie started at 3:20! As we left the theatre, I asked an employee what had happened: This was another teenager manager who said that somehow the screening mechanism was not properly programmed.
I donât go the movies as often as I once did, but I spent $54 for two tickets and service fees. I sat freezing for 3.5 hours and two managers under 20 years old who lacked any common sense and managerial skills who ruined an expensive rainy day at the movies reminded me that the movie theater business is comparable to the airline industry. I overheard two parents with 3 children saying incredulously that they just paid $115 for 5 tickets and popcorn.
Also? I wrongly assumed my expensive IMAX seats reclined. 3.5 hours in a seat that minimally reclined added insult to injury.
If anyone has read this far, thanks for letting me vent. I know that movie theatres rely on concessions revenue, and I empathize that so many businesses are understaffed.
Customer Service is a lost art. Thatâs why Sears and Bed Bath and Beyond went out of business and how Kohls and Joann Fabrics are facing bankruptcy.
I will never patronize Regal Deer Park nor any Regal ever again. Alamo Drafthouse makes customer service a priority.
Todayâs experience was frustrating on so...
Read moreI'm unfortunately a lot less enthusiastic about this theater than I used to be.
The Regal Deer Park used to be one of my favorite theaters on Long Island, even with the standard seating.
I still say it's one of the nicest theaters purely based on location. I like that it's located in the Tanger Outlets, I like the interior of the theater. It's not exactly modern but it doesn't look old either, so it's a nice bit of nostalgia that feels welcoming to me.
As far as the theater experience itself goes (which is mostly what you care about if you're reading this), it's okay. I think the new recliners are fine, but not too comfortable compared to most other theaters.
Audiences are usually unpredictable because a lot of teens hang out in this area. It's always been an issue, but I can't in good conscious go to this theater for a movie I truly care about because the odds are someone will either talk or be on their phone.
Truthfully, the only thing I really go to this theater for nowadays is the 4dx auditorium. If you haven't done it and you enjoy theme park rides, you will love it. It's pricey, but I've done it a handful of times and it's always been worthwhile. But I usually only pick movies I expect to be good in the format (Furiosa, Final Destination, Ghostbusters, How to Train Your Dragon), so I can't speak for a random movie being worth $25-30.
But even with the 4dx option, they haven't used fog any time I've gone, and I'm pretty sure that's supposed to be a feature in the format. So maybe they don't have it equipped?
Even so, the 4D experience here is far better than the one at Island 16, so don't waste your money there.
Overall, it's a theater that mostly gets the job done, just be prepared to complain about disrespectful moviegoers, especially if you're going...
