My husband and I visited the Ashley home store in Lake Grove Labor Day weekend 2019. We were extremely eager to find new furniture as we are doing some major renovations and wanted to find some things during some decent sales. Upon arrival we were immediately approached by a sales woman named Dawn Punto who initially seemed to be very helpful. We ended up ordering a Queen size Bedroom set inclusive of extra pieces such as an extra night stand and chest so it would be enough storage for my husband and I. Dawn then convinced us to purchase a mattress for the set but when she sold us this mattress she explained to us that in order for the mattress to be under warranty protection we needed to purchase a mattress protector from them which was an extra $300. Although I initially had reservations she explained how great if a deal it was and that it would be in our best interest so my husband and I agreed. About a week and a half later we came back and wanted to find out our options about returning the mattress and potentially changing our Queen set to a King set. That's when things went to the left. Before we could explain that we wanted to upgrade the bedroom set, Dawn told me that the mattress cover for a mattress that had not even been delivered yet could not be returned because it was taken out of the store. All of which was never addressed upon purchase. It was at that point that I realized that Dawn was more interested in a sale for commision than she was about the customer. I felt completely misled and was totally disappointed that I allowed myself to be bamboozled by her. I left the store immediately because I had nothing nice to say and although I liked the furniture I had purchased, I realized that there was a principle behind all of this and I could not allow myself to be taken advantage of by her. A few days went past and I returned all of the furniture to the store because not only had I felt disrespected I was disgusted at her lack of professionalism. Prior to my return, I did reach out to Ashley customer service and didn't receive as much as a call back. I made a complaint but nothing was done. The young lady I sopke to from customer service over the phone informed me that Dawn in fact had lied about the mattress protection and I did not have to purchase a mattress cover in order to recieve the warranty. Now fast foward to Columbus day, I went into the Ashley home store in Glen cove where I was greeted with humility and respect. The salesman was extremely helpful and was interested in looking out for my families best interest. It was then that I realized that Dawn was even more of a terrible person because the credit in which we opened to purchase furniture was still on hold after it was returned in order for her to keep the commission to the sale. Thank goodness my sales associate was able to have the funds released and we were able to purchase an even better set for a great price. I drove an hour away for better service and got exactly what was deserved as a customer. Thank you Ashley Home Store Glen Cove for your customer service and professionalism.    Read moreI normally do not leave negative reviews that are but this was the worst experience that I've had with furniture so I needed to say to people not to ever shop at Ashley home furniture. the couches that we purchased fell apart after a short period of time. We had purchased the extended warranty after many phone calls and emails they finally came and tried to repair the couches one they were able to but they did a terrible job staples sticking out sharp edges left. The 2nd one was too far gone to repair so they gave us a credit to replace the couch the problem is when they delivered the couch it came damaged It had a giant hole in the back the delivery guy quickly pushed it against the wall so my wife could not see the damage he definitely saw and hide the damaged area he stood by the couch so we couldn't move it to even look. By the time she realized that the hole was there they had already left we called it the delivery guy and he would not answer his phone they left in such a rush they left there cart in order to escape the seane of the crime. so I reached out the corporate asked them to please have them come back to take the damaged couch away they said that they would not come back and that they would send somebody to repair the couch. I explained to them that I did not want that since it was a brand new couch And the last time that they sent somebody to repair my couch they did a terrible job. She was very very rude and basically said well that's all we can do for you if you don't like it that's too bad. I asked to speak to the Manager she said she was the manager and there was nobody there higher than her I guess she was the CEO of Ashley? If you purchase anything from them make sure that you check every square inch the couch before the delivery guy leaves otherwise apparently you're just on your own. I would just never put yourself in the position that I have been stuck in by purchasing anything from them.so if do need furniture go anywhere but Ashley it has been the worst experience. I now had to contact a lawyer over this so this will be a very expensive purchase and also had lost a day of work to deal with them. Better off spending your hard earned money anywhere but here... BUYERS BEWARE if I could leave a negative star I would have.
UPDATE, since I made this review I did have someone reach out to me to rectify the situation by replacing the couch. He was very professional and I will be changing my star rating as long as everything goes as he says by Wednesday. Our couch less then a year old bought Dec 2019 and by Nov 2020 was breaking and our coffee table was scratched we called customer service they then said we will order the piece for the coffee table and when it arrives they will send a tech to inspect the couch to get fixedâI kid you not 5 months and 6 phone calls later the coffee table part arrived. In May the tech comes, couch is clearly broken TECH CONFIRMED itâs because Ashley furniture is held together by STAPLES not screws so itâs bound to break sometime quickly after purchase. He ordered a new piece of fabric and said call when it arrives and we will fix the frame and take the fabric off and check the inside then since itâs clearly broken as well.
July, the tech comes and the fabric they sent was literally gashed across the from so he couldnât take off the old fabric to inspect and fix inside of the couch. He ordered new fabric and said again call and we will come and finish work.
I have called and been hung up on 4 different times, they are now saying itâs over the time frame and the ticket is closed and wonât come fix our broken couchâŚ.but the reason itâs over the time frame is because of them not having good customer serviceâŚthey literally REFUSED to send a tech to the house for the couch until the coffee table cover came and now are saying thatâs why itâs expired and they should have opened it under a different ticket, so they didnât open it right but itâs the customers fault??
Literally a sham! DO NOT BUY HERE!!!! They are swindlersâwe even bought the extra protection plan they convinced us on and when I went to them because of this absurd issue they wonât fix it either because we didnât report damage soon enoughâŚ.well how could we report damage Ashley said they were handling????
The furniture sucks! Literally staples holding it together cheap cheap cheap! Do yourself a favor and go to Raymond and Flanniganâs may be a little more $$ but after this experience I can honestly say it would have been worth it to not have to deal with this atrocious company!
