I know this sounds crazy, but I think the best pizza on long island is in the food court of a smith haven mall.
Lets start with the food. The ultimate test of any pizzeria is the plain slice and these guys got it right, enough said. Beyond that, the daily specials are unique and each day is better than the last. While my personal favorite is the vodka slice (c'mon), I was completely floored by the thai chili slice, which the guy behind the counter recommended. The upside down slice is also a great go-to when you want to switch it up from the plain cheese. Lastly, they have doughy, cheesy and saucy buffalo garlic knots which are more than worth the trip in their own right.
Even though the food is most important, I can't help but mention how wild it is that this pizza is coming from a food court in a mall. To say its the best pizza I've ever had in a mall is an understatement, its truly in its own league and better than any of the pizzerias in the area. How has it taken this long to realize that malls can do better than Sbarros? No surprise it happened in NY.
Not to mention, the place is just cool. Its not like the town pizza around the corner that has the same trays from the 80's. these guys stand out in the foodcourt with the neon signs and music playing...
Read moreGood food but I will never go here ever again after the sneaky stuff the cashier pulled. I was completely overcharged on 2 small food items… $20? I realized about 5 minutes after and was told “it will automatically credit back to your credit card.” Usually you have to put your credit card back into the machine to receive credit back. I was lied to and never got that credit back after 3 weeks of patiently waiting.
Not only did this happen to me, but to a customer in front of me! I witnessed it with my own eyes. Someone got 1 slice and a soda and was being charged $12? The customer questioned it and the price was then changed before she paid.
I am more than understanding if a mistake or miscalculation happens while being a cashier, especially on a busy day, but it seems this happens way too often for it to be a “mistake.” Many customers probably don’t pick up on it, therefore get scammed out of money consistently while this business profits off of it.
If a small business openly chooses to treat their customers that way, then they aren’t in it to truly be a small business where they care about their customers. I guess scamming people out of a few bucks on a busy day is more important...
Read moreI am not one to write reviews unless something exceptional (good or bad) happens.
My family and I recently traveled out to The Smith Haven Mall from Nassau to have my son’s birthday at Game On. We ordered a package deal from The Pizzeria and I am so glad we did. The food was amazing! It way exceeded my expectations for mall pizza.
What really stood out to me though was the exceptional service we received. I forgot to bring something to cut my son’s cake and Brian stepped in with zero hesitation. Despite it being an already busy day for them (Saturday at the mall of course), he came over and cut the cake for us. What could have been a stressful situation (no one wants to cut a cake with small plastic utensils) was easily put to rest and I am so grateful for his kindness and willingness to go out of his way to help.
I cannot recommend this place enough. From the food to the service you will not be disappointed. We will definitely make The Pizzeria a stop any time we are...
