If I could give zero stars on unprofessional I would. I have frequented this location multiple times and never have I experienced what I encountered on my last visit. My friend and I decided we wanted some good Italian food and a glass of wine. I recommended this place because the food was always delicious and the atmosphere is nice. We dined on Friday evening, 12/9/22. The food was sub par and the service wasn't any better. We paid the bill and left and didn't say anything because I understand restaurants can have off days, being I am in the business myself for the last 22 years. When we got home, I saw on both my friends credit card statements that we were charged an additional dollar in tip. We left $9 each, and was charged $10. We did make a mathematical error with the total, but the tip was very clear and Legible. I called to speak with a manager and Michael answered the phone. He was very dismissive , told me my server Briannia was very busy and couldn't help me. $2 is not a lot but it's the principle that they made the error and I am not sure what my server busy has to do with the manager being unable to attend to my needs. He told me he had alot of parties coming in and if I am in the business "I should understand." I requested to speak with the owner, Roger, but was told he was too busy to speak to me as well and he would call me the next day. The restaurant proceeded to call me 3 times after that. I also had a host call me and an employee by the name of Jose . Why anyone but thr manager is handling this situation is beyond me. A simple $2 fix turned into 8 additional charged between myself and my friends credit cards due to errors on Jose's part . When I requested to speak to Michael again, Jose transferred me to a voicemail. I called Michael to explain and ask why my card and my friends card is now charged 4 times each with over $200 in charges on each card.... He could not answer me. He told me Roger would call me the next day. Roger never called .... So I called at 430 pm, today, 12/10/22. Again, Roger was too busy to talk to me so I left a message. Around 515 pm, I finally got a call from Roger . That conversation was worse. As an owner/operator, I have never met anyone who did not want to please a customer. He did not want to listen, he specifically told me if I didn't call him today he would have forgot to call me. He also stated that he didn't call me because he didn't think a $1 was a big deal. I requested full refund because of how I was treated and he told mw he could not do so. He also stated that I called dispute the charges on my credit card and he would just fight it and send in my signed credit card slip. In this day and age every penny counts, regardless of what Roger believes . I will Never frequent this location again due to the unprofessional demeanor of his managers and himself l. Being in this industry and knowing the customer is always right, this is unacceptable. Charging a patrons card 4 times with no empathy is absurd. A simple fix of an error on Their part turned into a nightmare and I will ensure I will never recommend this location to anyone. An "owner" should want to make friends in their community to enemies by doing fraudulent activity on...
Read moreFirst and foremost, call in advance. It gets very busy. The atmosphere is excellent. The management understands comfort. I would suggest however that they consider doing something about the cold air riding in when the doors open in the winter. That gets pretty bad.
Service is very good. They do try their best to seat people quickly but as if said, call in advance. The wait staff is on the ball. I will say however that they should ask if you want lemon in your water because I cannot drink an astringent to quench my thirst. It actually has an opposite effect. Yes they were able to accommodate but only after my throat tightened up from the lemon. Just a suggestion.
So on to the main show, food. So after dining here I looked into whether this place was a corporate operation or the dream of a good business person. Why? The food. For a corporate place I would expect this quality of food. But non-corporate ownership I would expect a bit more than what we had. While my dining party was pleased. They were concerned about my lack of enthusiasm. I am sorry if I made them uncomfortable but they know I don't hold back.
As for the management of Ragazzi, I am pleased about how well your business is doing, but truth be told you really need to elevate your quality a load more. I mean, fried cheese triangles and soggy calamari? Is this the Olive Garden? No insults are intended, just my honesty. My unsugared honesty.
They do have some good dishes. The stuffed rigatoni is very nice. But it seems as everything is pasta in red sauce without any originality. There is a distinct lack of freshness in all of the dishes. Everything was premade and thrown together. The sauces tasted old and tired. We ordered a chicken with sausage and red peppers. Maybe at one time it was fresh, but not that night, or even the night before. Rather than a fresh chicken flavor and juiciness it was dry, old and a bit greasy.
I rate restaurants based on the expectation, price and what they believe they are worth. Ragazzi only needs to fix their TV dinners (which I wouldn't eat to be honest) and offer up done real delicious food.
Oh and to call this place Italian because you serve pasta is ethnically insensitive. Insulting even. Please if you need a new chef, please find one. If you're chef thinks they're fine, I pity them. I get it, suburban restaurant can lower the bar. No, you can't.
I want this place to be better because everything about it screams excellence, except the food. I would love to return and be able to enjoy what we order but I guess it may be sometime until...
Read moreThe first word that comes to my mind is: amazing! It truly sums up all that Ragazzi is and has to offer. I typically don’t write reviews on Yelp or Google (maybe once in a year or so lol) but when it comes to Ragazzi I just had to.
Tonight was our first time. I took my Mom out for her birthday dinner. It was a highly recommended restaurant from my dear friend who just celebrated her birthday there only a few weeks prior. And let me tell you, it seriously is amazing!
Upon entering we were greeted by the lovely Hostesses, and being earlier than our reservation, we opted to have a pre-dinner drink at the bar.
Beautiful, cozy but comfortable atmosphere, still some bar vibe (with baseball and football 😁 on), great selections of wine, beers, cocktails and the Food?!?
This Italian woman has never been so happy! (Lol) Truly remarkable and insanely delicious! I had the Rigatoni alla Vodka for my entree and it was perfect! Perfect Al dente, perfect amount of chicken (which is an extra charge but worth it), just perfect consistency through and through.
Throughout the evening, Managers (including Mike) and his wonderful staff, keep up with each table. Whether it be with water or just checking in. (They really go above and beyond to truly make sure your happy, comfortable and satisfied).
When leaving (😪), Mike came up and introduced himself, asked how we enjoyed everything and we told him it was our first (of many) times at Ragazzi and we raved about the food, drinks and our amazing and attentive waitress. He couldn’t be sweeter and more of a gentleman. Shook our hands, gave us information on (hopefully) Family reunions (again Italian family here).
I’m so glad we came. It was absolutely amazing and perfect. And to boot, hearing they have an extensive GF menu and accommodations is seriously the icing on the cake. Mike was saying how Guests come from all over, including Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn and even Connecticut just for their food. Is truly something!
I can’t wait to come...
