I had foot surgery back in march and i wasnāt going to be going to the gym for a while, I went IN PERSON on April 23, 2025 to cancel. The manager came down and i told her my situation and she said iād be charged for the following month because they need a 30 day notice (which i completely get, fine.) but she told me if i email a doctors note they would waive that charge⦠I did email a doctors note a week later. The following month i get charged and i assume āok maybe they didnāt get the note whatever iāll accept the 30 day chargeā. If their policy is to send a doctors note for the charge be waived then i shouldnāt have let that slide anyway. Then i get charged the following month June 18, 2025, I call and speak to the manager on the phone and she says my account was never cancelled and was still active (which is such bullshit because i legit spoke to her in person). I asked her for a refund for the past 2 charges and she said it would go through in a couple business days and that my account has been deactivated. I waited 2 weeks for the refund and it never came through so i called again and spoke to one of the guys there and he told me my account was still active, He told me he would let his manager know to reach back out to me (of course that never happened). THEN of course i get charged again last week July 18, 2025. I have been veryyyyy gracious this entire time but my patience is all gone now. I am actually so sick of having to hound this lady to give me my money back since i really did like this gym š Im expecting my $149.97 back in my account asap. Maybe this review will get...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI originally rated this gym two stars due to the uninspired atmosphere and music selection, which felt out of touch with the vibrant, younger crowd that actually drives the energy and consistency here. The vibe was starting to resemble a Planet Fitness, which didnāt match the premium experience I believe Powerhouse should deliver.
However, I want to give credit where itās due. The manager reached out to me directly, kindly and professionally, and expressed a real interest in addressing the concerns I raised. She took proactive steps to improve the overall vibe, including adjusting the music selection and raising the volume to better suit the majority of members, who fall within a middle to younger age range.
Walking into the gym today felt different in the best way. It finally felt like a real gym, one that motivates you the moment you step in. That change alone is why Iām updating my rating from 2 stars to 4. The effort is there, and Iām excited to see how this gym continues to evolve.
Thereās still room for minor improvements. For instance, understanding that the franchise branding includes red, white, and grey, I believe the lighting could be dialed back slightly. Right now, it feels overly clinical, almost like a hospital. If possible, installing dimmers or removing a few fixtures could soften the atmosphere without breaking franchise guidelines.
Overall, I appreciate the responsiveness and the genuine desire to create a better experience. I'm hopeful for whatās next, not just for current members, but for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI would give Powerhouse negative stars if possible. Powerhouse reopened my account without my consent in August and used a credit on my account without my knowledge. They charged my frozen account a maintenance fee without sending a communication to me. We are supposed to be charged in June, but since the gym was closed for 5 months they moved it without informing members. They gave no maintenance discount even though there was nothing to maintain for 5 months. None of the staff knows what they are talking about. I called up to re-freeze my account before it unfroze. I spoke to 2 people from Powerhouse in the past 2 weeks. The first person told me my account would be frozen with no charge for 6 months. When I called the second time, I was told they could only freeze the account for 3 months and I will be charged $10 every month to keep it frozen. Then ABC Billing who bills for Powerhouse is telling me that I will be billed in December for a frozen account. In the agreement that I signed, it says nothing about frozen account fees. Besides the fact that employees are not on the same page, Powerhouse is un-empathetic to the situation the whole world is affected by. Because we are in a pandemic, it is the duty of a business to be understandable during a time like this and they are anything but that! Do not join this gym or you will be charged unknowingly and get hit with random fees. If you try to cancel your account, they make you pay for another month or they will keep your...
