What a place! I grew up on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire, when there were wooden boats everywhere. Big and small, fast and slow. Walking into the Antique Boat Museum was a trip down memory lane. We expected to spend an hour there. We stayed for over four. The variety of boats and engines and gear is mind blowing. I have never experienced a finer collection of antique boats anywhere. The multiple buildings of the museum are expansive, clean and bright. The virtual boat ride is notable. Seeing so many wooden boats in the water under the shed is really special too. Gives you the opportunity to see the boats as the are supposed to look. That is floating. There must be over 100 canoes from birch bark on up. Something incredible is the race boat building. Boats from the beginning until they stopped using wood. You can see the evolution of race boat design from the dozens of relics they have displayed. If you have even a flicker of interest in classic boats, go visit this place. You can even sign up for a ride in one of the beautiful woiden...

Read moreThis place really expanded to 5 buildings from when we were there last! Quite impressive! Spent at least 5 hours looking around. Huge parking lot. Got there early had no trouble parking. They added the Speed Boat museum across the street which was very nice and interesting. And they have 2 more new buildings outside. We got to row a skiff for free! Very fun! My husband did the rowing. All the college kids working in that section were super fun and friendly! Definitely try it!! Did a guided tour of the yacht boat the Duchesse that belonged to Mr. Bolt owner of Bolt castle. It was like a mini hotel on the water, very impressive with the restoration! Only 3$ a person to tour it. So if you are into boats this place is a must see for you! We are not into boats and still found it interesting! Had a section on the progression of...
