Stayed 1/22/21-1/24/21 for reference. To start we were in the admiral suite. The room was fantastic. We travel frequently and if we schedule far enough out we go for the best room options available. Room service was great, view was amazing, balcony was to cold to hang out on but in a better time of year i certainly would've appreciated it. I wanted to get these reviews out of the way. Because we're not against attending this hotel again. So here's the downside. We go down to the bar/restraunt with reservations. They say they're not ready yet, even though there are a fair amount of empty tables. Eh, no problem. We'll have a drink and give them a few. A drink later/45 minutes they are ready. We ask the bartender to cash out and he tells us no. He informs us that he plans to be our waiter. To which I immediately look at my Fiancé and say " he's going to attend a bar during dinner and be an attentive server?" ( don't even attempt to stick up for this action harbor hotel). So next we are seated at a table. Drinks are gone shortly after, no waters are served, no orders are taken. Nothing. After an unacceptable wait time the bar tender had miraculously found a way to speak to us. We don't dare attempt the menu's appetizers at this point. So I order a simple burger and she orders the "special" pork chops..... 10 minutes pass.. and at this point i ask my Fiancé why didn't he ask how I want my burger? To which she replys its assumed medium... okay. New to me but that would be fine... 20 minutes pass.nothing.... all the meanwhile with empty cups. My Fiancé looks at me and asks. Why does everyone have bread baskets but us.. including people seated far far after us... about 30 minutes into this we are asked if we want a refill by the bartender who happened to break away from the younger girls at the bar & pass by the dining room. We humbled at this point, how lucky of us. We said that would be greatly appreciated and asked about the bread or lack there of. He acted confused as he realized only one table in the entire dining room was lacking 101 of serving school. As he than made a brisk walk toward the kitchen. In less time than it would take anyone to get an answer he returned and informed us that they were out of bread for the evening, but the chef was willing to put some of tomorrow's bread in the oven for us so that we could have bread and butter... on a standard friday/saturday night at 6 pm..how were we to be so lucky. Especially since our food should be there any second. We declined at that point. As you could look past our gracious bartender/waiter centaur and see how ridiculous this lie was. We declined as at this point we ordered our food 40 minutes ago and had been in this restraunt for 80 minutes. Roughly 10 minutes after this point the food comes out. My burger was well done to put it lightly. Somehow without a touch if char. And her pork chop was so hard her steak knife couldn't cut it. I know at this point i might sound b**chy. I kept the burger. Brought it up to my room and had enough drinks to pretend it was even equal to a mcdouble.yuck. as for her pork chop, John Wayne wouldn't had chewed that. I can't explain anymore how poor our service/ food was. But I can tell you we paid a hell of a lot for a room. In the end we were not offered a free plate or it to be re made. He simply said he could give us a slice of the cheaper cake at a discount or possibly free....stay at the hotel if you want. It's a nice hotel. Go to Diprinzios if you want a fine meal. We went there for lunch and it was so good we didn't leave without making a dinner reservation. Both meals...
Read moreToo many problems in the room to give top ratings. It nearly seemed like a place getting ready to close or for sale, The outside areas are beautiful! Fire tables were wonderful. -- The room should have had a detailed inspection prior to our arrival. The bathroom lamps should be dusted. That floor lamp should have been working. The outlets on the bedside tables should be functional. The towels and bedding could be better quality, -- I wish we had gotten the front desk attendants names as they were ALL EXCELLENT and deserve mention ! April, I think served us breakfast one morning in the restaurant and she was very friendly. The other restaurant workers during one dinner were also very pleasant, appropriate and attentive. Marie, the concierge was really helpful to maximize our enjoyment of the area. She has good social skills. -- Excellent front desk staff, excellent concierge (Marie), all restaurant staff excellent. Everyone was very friendly and greeted us throughout our 3 night stay. -- Both of the wall lamps on either side of the sink had not been dusted in a very long time. The glass and the metal wall attachments of those both had visible dust. The towels seemed very thin, and one was unraveling on one end. I was shocked that it was not previously thrown out. The shower leaks onto the bathroom floor so a towel on the floor was necessary to keep the water from flowing toward the sink. -- I reported a broken window latch that was hanging by a piece of the broken window frame. The floor lamp did not work until I found that the couch had been moved too close and bent the lamp plug partially out of the socket so it only had half of the plug was getting electric. I straightened it out and then the lamp worked. For safety I checked the plug behind the bedside stand and it was also bent but not out of the socket. One of the bedside lamps, which had two electrical outlets for convenience, had been used so much that anything I plugged in was VERY loose and as a result failed to charge my electrical devices. The stuffing in the cover of the bed spread collected at the foot end and weighted it to the floor. It became annoying and was a trip hazard and failed to function as a bed cover. We loved the coffee in the hall every morning. Excellent idea. The water front room view was WONDERFUL, we loved it. -- Clean and pleasant, wonderful design and decor, good menu choices. professional and courteous staff. -- Very good staff at all levels. -- Marie helped orient us to the town including the cheese shop we wanted. Gave us accurate advice on the Alexandria Bay boat cruise which we enjoyed. She gave us good info on a local winery that we visited and Wellsey Island Nature Center that we also visited. Great area to enjoy and easily accessible from the hotel. -- We already told several friends about your wonderful location. Our disappointment was at the rate we paid for the room we did not expect so many (easily fixable) problems. The lobby area carpet leading to the elevators is thread bear at both ends that detracts from the decor. Room size is great. A view we would return to enjoy. The landscape is very nice and we loved so many outdoor seating options. The bar looked great but did not have a chance...
Read moreIt was our 30th wedding anniversary, and the pictures online were a little dated. We booked 2 nights at this hotel and checked out a day early. Read on. We checked into what was supposed to be a room with gorgeous views of the water. Yes. We had amazing views. However, we got into our room and opened our patio door only to hear banging and clanging of metal and big yellow escavators busy at work. Apparently, the city was working right in front of our suite, so the noise was obnoxious and loud. I mentioned it to the staff at the front desk and was immediately met with "this isn't our fault, we had no idea the city was showing up to work." I was then offered ear plugs. My 30th wedding anniversary and I'm going to need ear plugs. How romantic. The city workers ended up leaving around 5ish that evening. Their huge rigs obstructed our view, somewhat. Couldn't take pics without seeing them directly parked in front of our suite. Bummer. Not the end of the world, right? Wrong. The room was nothing to brag about. We decided to open up the blinds in the kitchen area to look at the beautiful water only to find spider webs and dirt as if no one had cleaned the windows or opened the blinds in months! Live bugs crawling all over the window locks and corners. We shut the blinds immediately. The staff..."Would you like someone to wipe sills down?" Um, yes! No one ever showed up. Okay. We know it's busy. Why complain. I mean, you spend 1k for a weekend, and you're not allowed to complain. So, we took our own clorox wipes and wiped them down. Oh. The night gets better. The bathroom shower had no hot water. Lol. There is no romance in this stay whatsoever people. Again, the staff..."Let the water run for a while. "....yep, they didn't seem to think we tried all avenues before having to call down to the front desk AGAIN. This almost became comical as if we were being punked. My husband and I really did try to make the best of it. We laughed about our awesome luck in finding the worst possible hotel to stay in. Not to mention the bugs crawling in the corner of the ceiling above our bed and more spider webs. It was like camping instead of staying at at 4 Star Hotel. I will say the room service was great. Watch out, though. They already add gratuity to every bill. We didn't realize this, and no one said a word as we filled out the receipt with another generous tip. Nice, huh? Especially when they leave your dishes piled up near your door, too. Our dinner dishes were still outside our door when they delivered breakfast. After breakfast, we decided to leave this catastrophe. Seriously...what a letdown. I will say, the best part of our trip was the Boldt Castle boat tour! I highly recommend it. It was amazing. Beautiful Island tour and a beautiful way to spend the day before leaving the area. Harbor Hotel....what a joke....
