Sister took me here last night (08/07/24), experience was disappointing enough for me to leave table and get drinks and dessert for us from Hops across the street.
Took 25 minutes to get served- apparently our table was not normally in our waitress's area and she didn't realize it was that night. I honestly had no problem with this, mistakes happen. Ordered two mojitos and a soda for table- these were the worst mojitos I've ever tasted in years of traveling. Strong soda water taste, bitter, little mint or rum flavor. Sent mine back, came back only slightly improved, still awful. In case you're wondering, the mojito across the street at Hops is amazing.
Ordered bolognese, haddock, and a burger. Burger was good, haddock was cooked well but badly seasoned- all of the seasoning was dumped on center of fish filet. Mashed potatoes were real potatoes, not bad but nothing extraordinary either given the price.
The bolognese was the worst I've ever had. Noodles were cooked well, as was the meat. However, the dish was completely unseasoned. Not a speck of herbs in the sauce, which I will bet every dollar I own is Walmart bolognese sauce straight from a bottle. The dish was disastrously bad- even dumping copious amounts of salt, pepper, and Parmesan didn't help- as is the case when dealing with large, broad noodles (hence why sauce seasoning is so important). There was also a tiny speck of what I'm assuming was mozzarella on the entire dish.
Despite being cooked competently, rating food one star because you don't get to charge these prices to serve diner-level food.
We did get two mojitos comped for our wait, and a free dessert for the person who'd ordered a soda. After dinner experience however was leery of the quality, did not want the free dessert and opted to get it from Hops across the street instead.
Skip anything but the burger, those are apparently good. View is...
Read moreWe've been coming here for over ten years and have no idea if ownership has changed , but it's looks like greed has compromised food quality to the utmost. The place is still on the water. The view is lovely If you eat on the deck. They keep the bathrooms clean. The place is cleaned , there's no complaints here. However, staff is definitely overworked.I saw waitresses with too many tables. Some of 8 people . It was so loud in here, we didn't even know that there was music outside till we finished dinner and went outside for a walk. But let's get down to the nitty gritty , the food. This used to be the place to come for lunch for the catch of the day.Everything was superbly fresh salads were crisp and delicious soup was out of this world! I thought it was bad that our salads were wilted and had dead black pieces in them. But when they brought the tray of salads for the eight people next to us all their salads were wilted too. I made sure to look and to look well. I got the scallops and shrimp my other half got seafood pasta. This food was fair , but nothing to write home about. Their dessert offerings saved them from a 2 stsr review. I don't particularly care if they were brought in from the outside. There was a large variety and they all looked delicious. We brought ours home with us and it was very good. They definitely need new kitchen management and a chef who is aspiring to be the greatest one in the new york region of the lakes. Plus owners who aren't afraid to hire extra staff for evenings...
Read moreService was really good. The food not so much we eat here for dinner started off with the poutine The fries were cold gravy cold and the curds that they were proud to be local were tasteless.
The drink my wife ordered was the coconut colada she enjoyed it but it had chunks of ice in it. One of the water glasses we were given have specks of white food all around it.
Dinner came and my wife ordered the Ceasar salad and grilled chicken the salad had no dressing and so much grated (not shredded) parm it was very dry. The chicken was burned it was not really edible. We told the server she brought more dressing but still charged for the chicken the owner walked by but never asked how it was.
I ordered the Channelside seafood Mac and cheese It said it came with baby scallops and shrimp they served 4 baby scallops and 4 shrimp. The shrimp was drenched in dry seasonings and still had tails that if I wasn't in Culinary it could have been mixed and a choking hazard. The pasta was cold so you can tell they prepare their pasta or buy frozen and drop it per order the sauce was watery and the only Cajun thing in the dish was the mound of seasoning.
Took cheesecake to go and it was good except there was peanut butter frosting on top. Not cool whip dairy whip or whipped topping. Very sweet also makes no sense to have frosting.
I'll be adding this to my review blog and I'll post a link to it for more reviews around upstate NY and the country.
This meal cost us $91 dollars we...
