I worked and managed a local coffee shop in central New York and like to be generous in my rating as long as things are made locally. Sadly however it doesn’t look like Lyric is the spot for that. The syrups are all shipped in, the pastries look like they were frozen and shipped in to bake morning of, and the menus and atmosphere mimic a chain coffee shop. Very little to speak to the unique area around them. Their coffee is roasted in house but is still not flavorful or smooth. I’ve seen so many of these types of shops sadly miss the mark on their potential. The service itself was quite fast and the workers were amicable. The coffee tasted overly sweet, and bitter - even after I asked for less sweetness so I can’t imagine how sweet it tastes with full sweetness added. All in all, a spot I won’t return to unless some local items are added.

Every time I visit Clayton, a stop to the Lyric is a must! Complete with a full coffee menu along with other treats, this coffee house is the perfect way to start a day of sightseeing and shopping! I like to sit on the top level to look down and people watch, but the atmosphere of the whole shop is cozy and positive. As far as food, I got a delicious cherry/cheese danish and a chai latte! Service was quick and kind!

Excellent atmosphere. This is such a cute little place in Downton Clayton. I got the chai latte with vanilla and a cheesecake bite and both were soooo delicious. We had our book club meeting here (three people) and we were super cozy by the fireplace. The woman behind the counter was so friendly and the prices were way better than Dunkin or Starbucks. I highly recommend.

I love Starbucks and brew ha ha but was disappointed by the lattes. Very blan, I couldn't even finish it and the other person wouldn't drink there's and made a Keurig cup. The food case looked like a back of the house covered in sweat refrigerator. I was really taken by that as well as the detail to cleaning that was missing. I hate to say any of this, but too be fair I think with a little new training and a much better line of products they could be a five star coffee house. The girls that were working are outstanding, especially the blonde on the register as well as the dark haired girl with the tattoo! I'd much rather pay $7 a cup and have quality that's memorable let along tolerable. I think anyone down there would agree. I hope my next visit is...

Good coffee, but some of the staff (=young women) need to learn a bit more about customer service. As in face customers when talking to them, especially when delivering unexpected news like "we're out of brewed coffee (=because I didn't keep an eye on it and failed to make a new pot in time)". And apologize for such and smile. Don't call customers "nasty" even if they might be (I wasn't, btw). Don't complain about customers with coworkers while said customers are still in earshot. And managent: Don't try to charge full price for a second cup (refill) of...
