Keeper's House, Friends of the Old Croton Aqueduct — Attraction in Town of Greenburgh

The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about old croton and the area of the town . The keeper’s house has maps,short films, and small wooden toys to explain how Croton Aqueduct has built. It was a large and complex water distribution system constructed for New York City between 1837 and 1842. The great aqueducts, which were among the first in the United States, carried water by gravity 41 miles (66 km) from the Croton River in Westchester County to reservoirs in Manhattan.

The house is open only weekend 1pm and 4pm. Bathroom -yes and clean. Trail- flat and stroller accessible.

We walked for an hour to north and took a train back (2 stops). We walked the trail right after stopped raining, we got to enjoy smelling the green...

We took walk on the Old Croton Aqueduct and happened on the Keepers House, open on weekends. A Gem! Displays and videos provide a great insight on this 19th Century engineering triumph.
