I have wanted to visit Villa Lewaro for years. I was appalled at how it looked. I would hope next visit the estate would be in better repair. Mr. R. Dennis ought to be ashamed. I asked a young lady to accompany me and visit the estate,. she was from Liberia. It took us awhile on the train, to get to Irvington, NY. She asked me if the Madam would be home by the time we got there. I explained, and she was not more than I was, but, clearly disappointed also. Will send pictures after uploading! We could not enter so we took pictures on...

I visited the house when there was the open house years ago and met Ozzie Davis and Ruby Dee at the party. I also had been there 20 years before when it was an unkept nursing home. The improvements have been very welcome and I treasure this place in the role it is placed to show the millionaires of the area that it has "come a long way" for the Black citizens 50 years of freedom .
