New Kawaii is one of Irvingtonās best-kept secrets. Itās truly so much more than a retail store; it's a thriving community hub dedicated to card games, board games, D&D, crafts, and all things "kawaii."
The heart of this place is the staff and owners. They have become very dear to meāthey are incredibly nice to everyone and genuinely invested in making sure every person who walks in enjoys their time. For anyone looking for a reliable and welcoming place to game in Westchester, this is it. Iāve visited many places, but the community here holds a special place in my heart because of the kind, interested players Iāve met.
I am a regular at the Weekly Board Game Night, which is excellently run. They provide ample table space, welcome you to bring your own "heavy" games, andācruciallyāthey never rush you, even if your session runs a bit over time. Their in-house board game collection is great, focused mostly on casual gaming (heavy gamer myself, but itās a nice change of pace for me), but still robust.
Beyond the community events, the retail side is fun to browse. They have a nice variety of collectibles and unique items, like the cool Star Wars Cheese Platter I bought! Plus, the location is unbeatable with great, ample parking right next to the train station.
If I had one complaint, itās that this place desperately needs to start selling boba tea! But even without it, New Kawaii is a five-star destination and the best gaming community space...

There was a sign on the door to ring the bell, so I did and the store employee informed me they were assembling chairs and it was too dangerous to allow us in to shop. Although they then proceeded to allow parents and kids inside for the after school program they run. My toddler son was crying hysterically as the employee was non-reactive and not apologetic. I was planning to make a pretty size-able purchase, so this was just was absolutely stupid if they were the store owner. Westchester County businesses continue to boggle my mind - does anyone want to make money anymore? Is customer service a lost art? I will not give this place my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe never do big birthday celebrations, but with two kids turning 5 and 10, we wanted to celebrate this particular milestone. The second we walked into the (new) new kawaii space we thought it would be an awesome party venue. Great store, staff, location, and physical space.
Jen and her game masters went above and beyond to make sure all the kids had a blast. They had an appropriate list of games to choose from for both 10 and 5 year olds (all easy to learn and interactive). There was also āmove aroundā activities for the littles and the option of an art project, etc. The cute ānew kawaii cashā allowed kids to pick out a small item at the end of the party, and we opted to give out gift cards instead of goodie bags.
Very much recommend new kawaii as both a toy store and party space, particularly if you have kids that love...
