Hoffman Car Wash — Attraction in Town of Halfmoon

I have had the unlimited car wash at Hoffman's for 7 years. I'm fed up with the service so I'm writing this review. It was great when they finally opened the "fast lane" for exterior only. However, now they refuse to rinse your car off before you go through, no matter how dirty. This not only causes the car not to come clean, but scratches the exterior. I just purchased a brand new (expensive) car one month ago and went through twice in the last week when my car was covered in sand and salt from the recent snow storm. Both times they did not rinse it AT ALL and it is now SCRATCHED. I went through yesterday and my car is still filthy. I went through Friday night and was so angry I literally drove directly from the Clifton Park location to the Latham car wash where they thoroughly rinsed my car before it went through. I would note it was not even busy. There were SEVEN guys standing around talking, horsing around, and smoking when I pulled in and they still couldn't take two minutes to rinse my car off so it wouldn't scratch and would actually come clean. I've had it with this place and after this review, if my car is not rinsed ONE MORE TIME I am not only cancelling my Hoffman membership, but will be suing them for the damages to my car. Maybe this review they will actually take seriously instead of writing some heartless apology like they do for the hundreds of other one star reviews on this site. MANAGE YOUR CAR WASH AND CARE ABOUT PEOPLE'S CARS. WE SPEND A LOT OF MONEY ON OUR CARS AND AT YOUR CAR WASH. YOU CAN AFFORD TO TRAIN AND SUPERVISE YOUR STAFF AND USE A LITTLE MORE WATER TO HOSE THE CARS AS THEY COME THROUGH. DO NOT GIVE ME THE NONSENSE THAT IT'S TO SPEED THINGS UP. LIKE I SAID YOU HAVE WORKERS STANDING AROUND AND THEY STILL DON'T RINSE THE CARS AND THAT'S NOT AN EXCUSE ANYWAY. Not to mention, the towel drying is a joke. I always have to towel dry it myself afterward every time. This last time it was 43 degrees and the kid drying my car started blowing into his hands like he was so cold and after a few wipes on my car just walked away like a pansy. And that price is, around $55. Yeah, if you want the interior and exterior offerings, be prepared to fork over half a grand. However, you need to weight the alternatives. You can pay the premium and get it done here by trained staff, you can do it yourself at the cost of your time and maybe a little less cash buying the armor-all and scented spray, or you can just not get it done and leave the car as-is again for another few months.

I was a little surprised at the cost, but in the words of a very wise man "it is, what it is."

Sat inside for around 10 minutes, which was plenty of time for the car to be vacuumed out, wiped down, washed, and dried. Amusingly while I was waiting, the power went out to the facility, causing all the PCs to reset and that meant anyone getting an inspection done had to sit around for an extra 30 minutes; whoops. Not me though.

As for the result, well, it was alright. The interior was clean, but they didn't spray down the interior windshield like they do in Schenectady's Hoffman. Plus, there were still stuck on bug splats on the front of the car that I could remove just by running a finger nail across them. Think those machines need to put a little more robo-elbow-grease into it, if I can still out do them with a fist-full of quarters.

Being honest here, but I think the outcome was less than ideal for the price. Seemed pretty average to me, roughly $35 maybe $40? But not $50 or higher. Think I'll stick to the free vacuums and doing the inside...

I have read the negative reviews, but my experiences have been positive. I received a 3 month pass for Christmas and have been using the drive through wash to keep the road salt off my vehicle and have been pleased so far. Staff encounters have been positive.

Well, sorry to say I needed to update this review. It's been a few months and although my bad, I just discovered that they have been taking $38.51 out of my account monthly since July 12 (4 months now!) $154.04 in charges I did not authorize nor have I been back for a vehicle wash! I tried calling to resolve this and the facility referred me to their administrative offices (different #). I called at 8:15am and a recording said the office was closed and to call back during business hours 8am to 5pm, what, it's past that time. I called back at 8:30am, same thing, called at 9:15am same thing. Now this is frustrating. I will post anothe update after speaking with someone.

Well, 9:30am and I just spoke to Brie and she stated I purchased a lifetime wash during their $99.00 promotion, I explained to her that was not communicated to me or I would not have purchased it, when purchased it was for 3 months only. She said all she could do was to offer a gift card for the amount but I prefer a refund. She said she could not do that so I told her I would be contacting my bank to have all charges reversed and her tone became quite curt, said that was my decision and terminated the call.....REALLY!
