This place is awesome! My kiddo started about 6 months ago and she has improved so much during that time. She takes lessons with Weldon or Matt once a week, and we try to go to the Kid's Meal on Saturday mornings. (A time set aside just for kids 15 and under.) The park is closed during group lessons at 4, so they get the whole place to themselves. You can do private or group lessons. The groups are no more than 5 students. The lessons are by skill level, Fundamentals, Beginner, and Intermediate. They keep you at the level you need to be until you are ready to move up. Safety is paramount, helmets required, and padding, I believe, strongly recommended. (We pad up!) They have a bowl, and a "street" and the instructors work with students on EVERYTHING. They make sure they can do all the basic stuff, AND get them ready to do more complex tricks and whatnot. It's a super cool place and everyone who works there is very friendly. They rent out boards and pads if you need them, and they have a nice inventory of merch for sale. We purchased a skateboard there and the wheels and stuff, and Weldon helped us put it together. They have a little work station to build your board, or make repairs/adjustments as needed. I highly recommend this park and the instructors. It's one of Buffalo's best hidden secrets that shouldn't...
Read moreYou ever try to drop in on a bowl and somehow invent a new way to slam? Yeah⌠that was me at the Food Court Skatepark. I came in thinking Iâd grab a couple photos and clips of the place as a photographer. Instead, I left with a highlight reel of faceplants so spectacular that even gravity filed a complaint.
Donât get me wrong â for every 15 âyard salesâ I took, I also had those chefâs kiss moments where the board stuck to my feet like we signed a 10-year friendship contract. Landed tricks here Iâd been chasing for months. One minute Iâm landing it, next minute Iâm doing my best impression of laundry in a spin cycle.
The setup? Perfect. Street, transition, rails, ledges â all smoother than a Wicked Tea Energy-fueled ollie over mall security.
The vibe? Even better. Itâs like a family reunion where everyone can tre flip. The locals will hype your makes and roast your bails equally, and itâs beautiful.
Bottom line: Come for the skatepark, stay for the laughs, leave with bruises that double as souvenirs. Food Court Skatepark is the spot â 10/10 would...
Read moreHad no idea something like this existed (thanks Abby @ Bougie Buffalo!) and now we're obsessed! Our 4-year-old decided he wants to be a skateboarder when he grows up, so we booked a fundamentals lesson with Weldon to test it out... he's a total pro: patient, kind, and had our kid smiling and skateboarding within minutes! The whole vibe here is awesome, communication is on point, and we can't wait to come back! Makes my husband and I wish we had something like this when...
