Hempstead Park Nursing Home — Attraction in Town of Hempstead

I don't know where to begin...if I take off I will sound mean cold hearted and self centered....so with that being said, if you love your love ones this place is not to take them....it's dirty filthy staff have nasty attitudes....they respond to you like you bothering them...I told this to this administrator director and also told her I don't understand how this facility even opened....this should be a question from everyone who has someone there....food looks horrible....again why is this place open, is beyond me....took my mom out of there quick as possible....my mom is back in the hospital and she will go back to nursing home for physical therapy but this place will not be the one she's going to....honestly this place don't deserve one star...deserves no star....my mom went in there with money...when she fell asleep and when she woke up her purse was open, everything that was in it was scattered and her money was gone....she told me when she got there someone told her to take off all her clothes and with a hose they showered her....I had spoke to a nurse there and told her about my moms money being stolen she said my mom did not go there with money....meanwhile I know she had money...my mom spent one night there bcuz I couldn't take her out...but the next day I took her out....I couldn't sleep thinking she was at this horrible place...I'm not exaggerating this place is a nightmare....DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVE ONES to this place....I can't understand why it's still opened...smh...this place got one star bcuz it's the only way to make the review....now I'm looking for a new place for her...she needs physical therapy...where ever she goes I hope she gets better again so she could go back home....I nearly forgot....whomever is giving these patients their meds, is not making sure their patient is taking them....there was a pill on the floor by my moms bed....I picked it up and gave it to a nurse....and I told her ya should be more careful with meds....obviously The majority of these patients are mentally ill....they take a pill they are not suppose to because it's on the floor I wouldn't want to think of the outcome....I'm doing everything I can to report this place....someone has to speak for those patients that obviously are alone on this one...smh the administrator should get a better nursing home to work at....she's to nice to be...

The Nurses were nice to my father when he was there for a cracked hip, they get props. HOWEVER, the doctors leave a lot to be desired...they are dismissive, inattentive and definitely in it for profit. My father was convinced by his attending in the hospital to go here and nothing went right after that. I had to call several times just to get an update, with my Healthcare Proxy sent to them by me so they could locate it in their files! Doctors infrequently checked up on him, only when I called and made a stink as to how he was doing. We were told he could travel when he couldn't, when we tried to get the doctor to write a note so we could get refunded by the airline, he charged $400 cash and made my father wait 6 hours in the waiting room for a letter that said nothing about him altering his original medical directive to travel. Awful doctors and crooked...

My brother was there for 16 months. The nurses seemed nice because they knew we would be there every other day to see my brother. One day a cleaning guy came in his room and went through the guy he was sharing a room withs dresser. My brother said what are you doing? He said looking for garbage bags.Really? He was looking to steal stuff. My brother had a sore throat for a long time. I asked the nurses to get a doctor to see him. They had a speech therapist see him and did nothing. He couldn’t eat or speak. I requested him to go to the hospital. Once he was there they had to put him in a semi coma to see he had cancer of the throat.
