I took my 94 year old Mother to a luncheon with her friends at the Irish Coffee Pub, in East Islip. I was told No Men allowed at the table!! lol
So I sat at the bar and ordered a hamburger, as those 5 women just chit chatted away, in quiet!!
I ordered the burger my usual medium rare, and it came to me a near perfect medium rare.
The restaurant serves Certified Angus beef, so I'm assuming the burger was a chuck blend, and it had that chuck taste to it.
The burger meat had a nice taste to it, to be sure. It seemed to me they hand mold the burger in house, from the structure of the burger, and the looseness of the meat as it sat in the bun.
The roll they use is different from what is used at most places. It was a Kaiser roll, which I really enjoyed.. It held up very well against a very juicy burger.
The French Fries were as crispy as possible, and there was certainly plenty of them, as I could not even come close to finishing all of them.. I really enjoyed them... I believe they are Hand cut
One of the better French fries I have eaten.
The burger was very good, but it certainly wasn't Top Tier in my Burger Hierachy.
But, fact, I would not hesitate to recommend the burger if you ate there.
The whole burger meat, roll, french fry combo warrants a thumbs up.
The price is a bit steep,at $19.90, but it comes with fries....cheese, and any other additions were a $1 extra..
There is a charge for Credit card use
The service at the Irish Coffee Pub is legendary, and it certainly shone through today.
From the moment I walked in with my Mother, to the time I left, they were as gracious as could be.
In fact, when I pulled the car up to the side (handicap) entrance, the manager type, Steve, noticed from inside somewhere, and came out to help with the process of getting my mother out of the car, and to get her going with her walker.
The place was quite busy at lunch time. The main dining room was about half full, the various rooms around the first floor were full to different degrees, and the bar was constantly busy.
There is usually plenty of parking.
The weekends there are quite busy with the regular restaurant business, weddings, birthday parties, and the like.. plan...
Read moreThe Irish Coffee Pub recently hosted my parents 60th anniversary party. From start to finish the level of service and competence was unsurpassed. My mother made initial contact with Steven. At the time of her inquiry she had already unsuccessfully attempted to secure a venue for the event at several establishments. From their first conversation Steven assured her that everything would be taken care of and he went above and beyond to deliver on his promise. My parents were in Florida and were unable to deliver a deposit from that distance. Steven insisted the date was secure and there was nothing to worry about. He advised my mother to review the menu in advance so she was prepared to plan the remainder of the details.
When my parents met with Steven he could not have been better. He asked all the right questions and gave my parents great guidance choosing the menu. He asked if there would be children attending, and informed her there would be a kids menu available for them at no additional charge. After the menu was completed my mother had concerns about one of her choices. Steven made the change to the menu without hesitation. He did a great job of recommending seating arrangements based on the number of guests and the layout of the room.
When the day of the party arrived Patrick oversaw the event. Patrick continued Stevens excellent level of service throughout the day. Everything was absolutely perfect. Every request was met without issue and Patrick and the staff were happy to accommodate. The staff was absolutely perfect. From the servers to the bartender everyone was professional, accommodating, and genuinely contributed to making the special event a wonderful experience for my parents.
It obviously goes without saying that I highly recommend the Irish Coffee Pub for any event. Their level of service absolutely can not be matched for any event that...
Read moreI have been to quite a few events at the Irish Coffee Pub. Every time I was completely wowed at how attentive the staff was and the amazing quality of the food. Since we had such wonderful experiences, we hosted a small (40 people) party for my son in Summer 2021. Again, nothing short of amazing. So when I was entrusted to throw a bridal shower for a family member, there was no competition. We obviously picked the Irish Coffee Pub. But this time, it fell completely short and was extremely disappointing. Since we were the first party of the day, we were able to show up 1.5 hours before the party started to set up. Thank goodness we did, because the staff did not help at all with the set up. (Complete 180 from our experience over the summer. The staff helped with centerpieces, setting out favors, and hand sanitizers on the tables. Even helped blow up balloons!) While I didn’t expect the help setting up, I did expect the servers for our party to at least be present… which was not the case. They put out champagne punch on the tables and disappeared. I found myself constantly running around asking for drink refills for all of the guests, asking for them to take bar orders, and had to wait for them to happen to be around to cut the cake. Often I was asking servers from another party that was going on to get our staff. The buffet was open, but no announcement made. We had to ask. After the guests had all gotten plates, I, yet again, had to go to the 3 servers at the buffet tables to ask for help and was told that it takes all 3 of them to serve food at the buffet when everyone was already eating and no one was waiting on the buffet line for food. The food is normally top notch, but this time the chicken was so over cooked that you couldn’t even cut through it with a knife. I hope that this is able to be worked on, because it truly was such a...
