Newburgh Mall — Attraction in Town of Newburgh

I recently visited the Newburgh Mall, located in Newburgh, NY, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. The mall's lack of retail stores and slow pace left me wanting more. Here's my honest review based on my visit.

Firstly, one of the major downsides of the Newburgh Mall is the limited selection of retail stores. I was disappointed to find a noticeable lack of variety when it came to shopping options. Many of the stores that were once there have closed down, resulting in a limited range of choices for shoppers. This can be frustrating, especially for those seeking a diverse and vibrant shopping experience.

Moreover, the overall atmosphere of the mall felt slow and lacking in excitement. The lack of foot traffic and the absence of bustling activity were quite noticeable during my visit. It seemed as though the mall was struggling to attract both shoppers and tenants, which contributed to the lackluster experience. I found myself wishing there were more to do within the mall to make the visit more engaging and enjoyable.

On a positive note, the mall does offer a few redeeming qualities. The parking facilities were ample and easily accessible, making it convenient for visitors to find a parking spot. Additionally, the mall does have a few remaining stores that are worth checking out, although the overall variety is still limited.

I would like to see the Newburgh Mall make efforts to revitalize its retail offerings and attract a wider range of stores to cater to diverse customer preferences. Implementing strategies to enhance the overall atmosphere and encourage more foot traffic would also greatly improve the shopping experience. Introducing additional entertainment options, such as entertainment zones, dining establishments, or family-friendly activities, could help make the mall a more vibrant destination for visitors.

In conclusion, the Newburgh Mall in Newburgh, NY, is currently struggling with a lack of retail stores and a slow-paced environment. While it does offer convenient parking and a few remaining stores, the overall shopping experience falls short. Excellent shopping mall in Newburgh, New York. Newburgh Mall is a regional shopping center located on NY 300 in the Town of Newburgh, New York, near where Interstate 87 (the New York State Thruway) intersects with Interstate 84. It was opened in 1980 by Kravco property management (later Kravco Simon), which owns King of Prussia Mall outside Philadelphia. The mall has 46 stores and the anchor stores are Bed Bath & Beyond and Office Depot. There are 2 vacant anchor stores that was once Sears and The Bon-Ton. Original anchors included the now defunct chains Caldor and Howland's (later Steinbach, then Old Navy, now TRACK23).

Old Navy relocated out of the mall in 2011. More than 25 percent vacant since 2009, the mall faced foreclosure in 2012. After operating in foreclosure for several years, the mall was sold at a foreclosure sale for $10 to the holder of its mortgage, Wells Fargo. In 2017 the mall was sold for $7.7 million. On August 29, 2022 it was announced that Sears would be closing in fall of 2022 marking the end of era after 43 years as the last original anchor store in the mall as well as the last Sears department store in New York7 The Closing date for this store was announced 2 days later on August 31, 2022 in a Facebook post with the final day of operation being Sunday, October 16, 2022.On December 28, 2022, after 50 million dollars in renovations, the Malaysian-based Genting Group Resorts World Hudson Valley Casino, occupying 60 thousand square feet, featuring over 1200 slot machines and video lottery terminals (only the ninth official video lottery facility in New York State), and electronic 82 table games, opened in the Newburgh Mall at the site of the former The Bon-Ton Department Stores in the Newburgh Mall. The arrangement also includes a three million dollar annual payment by the Genting Group to the Town of Newburgh for the rights to host the casino in the township, which includes an annual 500 thousand dollar payment to Newburgh enhance police, fire and ambulance services, according to the Times-herald...

I am a frequent shopper in the Newburgh mall for many many years. It is a shame that we lost so many stores in that nice little mall. It is nice when I go there still there’s like eight stores left maybe nine tops and the little coffee booth in the middle of the mall is great as soon as you walk in the main entrance, those young ladies that work there are amazing.. And another positive note about that. There’s a lot of people that walk that more and now with all the walls being up from the new restoration from the new casino, which is a blessing for that mall .. Too bad there wasn’t more of a restaurant in there maybe besides Chilitos something else that served alcohol maybe an Italian restaurant that did serve alcohol beverages where people could sit and mingle instead of just going into the resorts for an alcoholic drink .. And it would be great to see a different department store come in there there’s a little department little clothing store in there, but that’s mostly for young teenagers something nice we used to have Catherine’s we used to have all those nice little you know older crowd stores, but there’s nothing there anymore. And you know there’s really not a lot of hotels around there. They have the red roof Inn down there by the going towards the other opposite end of 300. but that’s not very classy too bad that the mall couldn’t have a resort hotel rooms like they do in Connecticut and they do down in Atlantic City and in the Poconos that would...
