The manager at this store, a bald man who works there was extremely rude during my recent visit. Last week, I took my father to buy a pair of shoes. At the register, I provided my phone number for my membership, and as my dad’s purchase was being rung up, he became interested in getting his own membership. While I was explaining the benefits to him, we decided to sign him up and have the cashier process the transaction under his new account instead.
As I was explaining this to the cashier, the manager, who was standing behind the counter, gave me an intense, disdainful glare, like he thought I was stupid, as if I were doing something wrong. His expression was so unpleasant that it made me uncomfortable. Then, in a condescending and snide tone, he said, "Why did you give her your number if you were just going to sign him up yourself?" He then sneered and walked away without waiting for a response.
I was taken aback by how unnecessarily rude and unprofessional he was, especially as a manager. I was about to say something, but the cashier basically apologized on his behalf, saying that it had been a tough day. That excuse doesn’t justify his behavior. I’ve worked in retail my entire life, and I would never treat a customer like that, it’s completely unacceptable.
I’ve spent thousands of dollars at this store over the years and have recommended both REI and this location to many people. But after this experience, I won’t...
Read moreGreat place to shop for the outdoors. Came here to shop around for a backpack for a trip to Europe and I was flawed with so many options of bag to choose from. I was immediately introduced by an employee billy as soon as I was in the backpack area. I was so impressed with what he had showed me and the kind of knowledge he had with each item. He took his time step by step sized me up for a bag which by the way is very impressive and I had no idea even existed. He put weights in my bag to simulate how it would feel carrying the bag full. Explained the process of how to put it on and what strings to pull first. He demonstrated every little tiny details. I was amazed. He even recommended different bag. And again he sized me up and put weights and made me walk around the store! He was with me for about one hour describing me with no hesitation and with such knowledge that I was convinced I was walking away with one of the bags. I was confused with which back to get it at this point. What really surprised me was what billy said to me. “ you know what, go home and sleep on it”. Will be back 1,000% when I’m ready to pick the bag up. Great customer service. Have never seen an employee take his time like he did. Thanks...
Read moreI came here looking for a hat that an old hippie had given to me in 1996 at the Gathering of The Tribes concert and I had lost it then. I knew this place was the place to go because they carry quality made goods. I’m a stickler for well made products and unlike most consumers looking for a bargain or penny pinching, I’m willing to pay more for quality. I finally found the type of hat I was looking for. It’s made by a company called “ Tilley “ in Canada. It cost only $85 and was well made , fitted in my size, and comes with a lifetime warranty. The hat even floats and was designed to give that worn look. I saw many counterfeit versions of this hat made in China, but nothing rivaled the quality and craftsmanship of an original “ wanderer “ Tilley hat. Employees were helpful without being pushy or being my shadow. Well designed , brightly lit, and displayed aisles of the latest camping and outdoor sports gear. They had promotions but I didn’t sign up because I wanted to come back for an item that cost $600 ( emergency solar battery station) so I could use my...
