The Shower Door — Attraction in Town of North Hempstead

I am so disgusted! I bought sliding shower doors about a year and a half ago. They were "sprayed" with a black powder coating, which of course was more money. They have a lifetime warranty. I paid about $1600 and about a week later, the store called and said I owed them another $160 (which was probably the commission the the contractor got). I felt this error was the store's error, and ultimately the store should have paid the commission, not me. That's the first problem. I did not have the store install the doors because my contractor "was approved" to install the doors. Problem number 2, a few months later, I noticed black chips on the stone under the doors. I called the store and I was told "it's probably the extra powder flaking off". So I left it alone. A few months later, I decided to look (should have looked before) and all of the powder coating on the top of the rail had chipped off. I called the store and I explained what happened. The person told me she would order another header and when I returned the existing, damaged header, they would replace it. Fine...who is going to uninstall and re-install. I don't think it was fair that I paid for a defective door, and I paid extra for (commission) and my contractor who was "approved" to install it has to suffer and uninstall and reinstall the header because the item is defective. Needless to say, the store told me they would re-order the header and when it came in, they would let me know. Never heard from them again. I would never recommend this place to anyone and I would discourage people (I know a few who are renovating bathrooms) from using this place! Buyer beware...have them install the doors (there were additional fees ie. if you live in a co-op, in Queens, etc. installation is more expensive bc of "parking, board issues etc., which is BS!). so they could deal with it if it is defective). Worst experience & customer service ever! We were purchasing stock doors to replace existing doors. Shower base was not being changed. We opted not to pay the exorbitant fee of $100 to have them come to our house to measure (which by the way WOULD NOT BE APPLIED TO THE PURCHASE) We measured ourselves and were told to also take a picture & they would confirm before ordering that it was a 36" shower door. The order was placed & more than half of the cost was given as a deposit. Day of installation , upon entering the bathroom the installer knew right away that it was not a 36" door, his measurements determined that it was 40" He proceeded to tell us that there's approximately 2-3 " behind the tile upon initial installation. How would we have known that. They are supposedly the professionals & should have taken that into consideration. After several heated & nasty phone calls with Linda "the boss" she refused to order another door unless we paid in full and was also charging us a $240 restocking fee and $100 installation fee for a door that was never installed. In light of the fact that we were in a pandemic & business was at an all time low this is no way to treat a customer who during these social distancing times is willing to have you come into their home , pay for a shower door & installation and rip them off. This is a genuine rating directly addressing the quality this company offers.I picked this company after seeing four companies for my bathroom .The shower Door company was a winner because it is not the sale they care but the quality of the work they offer.To be specific, they worked on the design around our preference but checking with their engineers for the door opening, to safeguard the sturdiness of the shower door; our area measurements were difficult to design. They explained the installation process from the first appointment ,including the cost, timing, and their services after the installation, if needed.This is a very well organised company; the installers came on 1:25 and left 3:30 ,they worked together and did an excellent job. We feel confident ,as the company continue their services ,and care about their product and customer satisfaction after their work is over .That shows they are professional, responsible , and care about their reputation.
