I grew out my hair from a pixie to chin length voluminous curly hair. I was looking for a āCurly Hair Stylistā to understand my curl pattern and provide a hairstyle that complimented me. I performed a google search and Tomyās name popped up. The information and his experience detailed on the website was encouraging. It clearly stated, ā Tomy B. Salon on Long Island understands your unique curl pattern and is here to help you unleash its vibrant, healthy potential.ā WoW I thought it was my lucky day, finally someone who knows how unique curls can be!! I made the appointment right away and paid the $200.00. I had no idea this process would take 3 visits. Visit #1 was the consultation, 30 minutes wait time while I watched Tomy assist another client, then a 10 minute evaluation. I explained my curl pattern, the shorter my hair the lesser curls, I was looking for a short sexy curly hairstyle. He understood my desire, told me my hair was uneven and proceeded to give me a dry trim, then I was washed. Now for the hair styling, he thought I would look better with bangs and no hair part. First, he applied a serum then used a diffuser, the curls were not curling properly, then mouse and gel were applied, and finally hairspray. I honestly was trying to like the hairstyle, you know, give it chance. I thought maybe when I go home and wash all the products out of my hair, I would be able to style it, but the haircut and style was not flattering. Visit #2 was the haircut. I saw Tomy in the salon, he welcomed me and I told him the hairstyle he gave me was not complementary, I had gotten negative feedback from family and friends, curly/stringy bangs at my age. Ha. He said no worries he will fix the issue. I was still hopeful, after all he is āThe Professional,ā right. My hair was washed and I sat in the chair after a 40 minute wait for a 15 minute cut. We spoke, I reiterated my curl pattern, and he acknowledged my concern. OK, the haircut, the front was short and tapered while the back was wavy. I figured the expert curly hair stylist would know how to secure the curls to maintain that short sexy curly hairstyle I expressed. He added product in my hair and told me to have a seat to air dry. I sat there and watched him assist other clients with appointments. I must have sat there for an hour before he finally called me to sit in his chair. Tomy tried to style my hair with more product but all my curls were gone. I was not happy with the service, haircut, and hairstyle, it cut was not balanced. BUT I still was hopeful, maybe when I got home and style it myself.?? So I made another appointment at the suggestion on Tomy. For a week I tried to work with the haircut I was given. I bought new curly hair products, but all my curls were cut off, in fact, the right side of my hairline was shorter than the left side. I thought and thought about this ordeal and why would I want to go back for a 3rd visit. How shorter will he cut my hair? I did not ask for pixie. How long would they have me wait in the salon, as though my time was not important. At this point, I lost all confidence in his capabilities and felt my time was of no consequence to him. He was already PAID. I called the salon the day before my 3rd appointment to cancel and to express how disappointed I was, with no empathy or feedback from anyone.
3/28/25 Thanks for your response and acknowledging my voicemail was received. The review was written after there was no response or urgency to rectify the situation. There was a 3rd appointment made for 3/38/25 to fix the haircut. At the time of making the appt, I requested the tips for the ladies be added on to my credit card but it could not be completed due to security measures. It was suggested to bring cash at the 3rd appointment to bypass any difficulties. Please see the screenshot of the text message reminder of the appt. Instead of making excuses, where are we in resolving the matter? Where is the customer service and client satisfaction? This ordeal truly saddens me...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI paid over $500.00 for NOTHING!! Tony is a big bag of bull! Lots of promises and no delivery. I awaited weeks for what I thought would be a wonderful haircut. When I got there I got a wonderful greeting and what would turn out to be a very expensive Cappuccino. Yes you are indirectly paying for the cappuccino. I had communicated multiple times by email explaining what I was coming there for and was made to believe I was getting a shaping haircut. When I got there I got a used salesman pitch that resulted in him refusing to cut my hair unless a treatment was done. This treatment I found out after I invested my time and effort into coming there was extremely overpriced. He insisted on a lipid and collagen treatment of my hair first refusing to cut my hair. the lipid treatment was over $200 and the collagen treatment over $300. Both of which was a little dabble of product put in my hair. I really ended up paying for an expensive wash and blow dry which I didn't come there for. He did NOT CUT MY HAIR AS WAS INTENDED AND PROMISED. Extremely disappointed and I feel that I was swindled out of my hard earned money. Come there if you want to be fleeced!!! In response to your comment: I WILL SPEND MY TIME WARNING PEOPLE ABOUT THE SHAM YOU HAVE GOING ON! Insulting me will only spur more comments and reviews from me. The fact is you have a BAIT AND SWITCH SCAM going on here. Either you pay off people to write false reviews or you are manipulating the sites to not show people's bad reviews of their experience. You put in the two dollops of product before I knew the costs of these products. After you applied them, I them found out what the RIDICULOUS COST of them were. $200 and $300. I expressed my concerns and voiced my disgust there in person. I WAS NOT HEARD!!! I also came there for a haircut, waited a very long time and invested hours of my time to walk out $350 less, hours later and NO HAIRCUT!! AWFUL EXPERIENCE. YOU WILL NEVER GET A PENNY OF MY MONEY...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePLEASE READ If youāre going here just for a trim or something simple, donāt go. I went here for a trim, I have very curly thinner hair, and really just wanted a haircut, and Tomy B was recommended. So I go in for my appointment, and as Iām talking to Tomy I realized heās brushing aside what Iām saying about just needing a trim. He starts saying he wants to put two kinds of products in my hair, lipids and something else. As heās talking about the products, heās saying how much they will help me and all that (I have thinning hair/breakage from PCOS). And eventually, I agree to one of the treatments bc he did not stop trying to push the treatment onto me. So Iām sitting there with the treatment in my hair, and a new customer comes in and sits next to me, tomy walks over to her and starts giving her the same sales pitch he gave me saying she needs all these treatments, even after she specifically stated she needs a trim and doesnāt want to use harsh chemicals/products on her hair. At this point, theyāre basically arguing bc he wonāt stop arguing with her to get the treatments, and eventually he gave up and she just got a trim. As my treatment is almost done, I was assuming Iād still get a trim after (they didnāt say otherwise) so when they washed out the treatment and said to come back next week, I was shocked, I was leaving for school a few days after the haircut so I couldnāt come back (and they didnāt tell me that they canāt cut the hair after they put treatment in it). So I left that hair salon with soaking wet hair on a rainy day, with no trim, and went back to school without a haircut. It was so obvious to me that Tomy B salon was really just gaslighting people into getting treatments they donāt want/need. He was also very pompous, and withheld info/didnāt explain everything through. It was horrible. Just donāt go there, they are rude to customers when the customer doesnāt agree to whatever tomy...
