My daughter went to see Dr. Shen for an ankle injury. She is an athlete. Did an x-ray - nothing showed up. Did not do an MRI but told my daughter she is good, she can play through the pain. "She is young, just take Ibuprofen". Then he scoots us out of his office. She goes to the next tournament and follows his instructions and completely damages her ankle. We go back to him and he insists that she tore the ligament on her outer ankle. She has ZERO pain on her outer ankle and has never had pain on that side of her ankle. He tells her, yes, that is what it is and that the outer ankle tear is causing instability on the inner ankle which is why she is getting pain on that side. At this point, we know this guy has no idea what he is talking about. So we insist that he order an MRI. We get the results - sure enough - no tear on the outer ankle - only a stress reaction of a bone in the inner ankle and a sprain on the inner ankle (PTT), which he made worse by telling her to continue to play on it. Now my kid is off the field for 4 weeks. Decided to look him up after this expereince and find out about his credentials. He got his medical degree in China. Now I have nothing against China, but I am not sure (based on this expereince at least) they have the same standards for education when you want to practice medicine. In my opinion, you are risking further damage when going to Dr. Shen.
To add to the absurdness of this doctors qualifications, once he called me with the MRI results (a day after I got them myself and had another orthopedist read them), he STILL told my daughter she could play! What doctor tells a kid to play with a stress reaction (and a sprain). If you play on a stress reaction, there is no doubt she would end up with a full fledged fracture. See Dr. Shen at...

Read moreI highly recommend Doctor Shen for his exceptional care and expertise. He helped me resolve my Lisfranc injury from BJJ. Despite the uncommon nature of this injury, Doctor Shen quickly identified it through an X-ray and later confirmed it with an MRI. It turned out I had a torn Lisfranc ligament with minor bone fractures. This prompt identification was crucial, as I learned from Reddit and other blogs that many people go through multiple orthopedics without getting a proper diagnosis for months.
Doctor Shen is not only highly skilled but also incredibly caring. He genuinely cares about his patients' health and goes the extra mile to save them money by recommending the right equipment for surgery recovery. Thanks to his amazing job on my feet, I was able to recover properly and get back on my feet. He is a very professional and respectful doctor, and I would rate him 6/5...
