MAUREEN'S JAZZ CELLAR — Attraction in Town of Orangetown

Wow what a cool place! My wife and I went there to celebrate Valentines Day. First time. It was on a Tuesday night which coincides with "Open Mic" night. There was a "house band" light drums, stand up bass and piano. There were actually two alternating piano players, each specialized in slightly different music. One of them MC'd the night. Patrons signed up gave the musicians their music or told them the key or how to play the piece. It was extraordinary night. Highlights for us was a great version of Funny Valentine and a really smooth version of a jazz number and a breathtaking bass / poetry piece. It is a tight venue , seats maybe 50 people tops. The arugula pizza was delicious. Really nice vibe. We will return!...

Can't wait for the pandemic to die so I can return to the life of music and the magic of Maureen's. Referring to the Tuesday night open mic. That's when the talent of Nyack and beyond becomes apparent. Jazz, blues, tap, improv, and more come to life, sometimes with jaw dropping amazement. A relaxing gathering venue on open mic night. There was more pre pandemic throughout the month with trios, bands, vocalists, risqué performance nite and quality NYC caliber jazz. An added benefit are the side appetizers one can enjoy. A welcome addition to Nyack's music scene, an intimate setting where you can bond and enjoy upfront varied and quality...

Well-run music venue conveniently tucked into a downstairs space on 2 N. Broadway in downtown Nyack. I attended a special event featuring John Malino and his Family Band. John, who is a well-versed musician and performer, was accompanied by his talented daughter and son. The place was sold-out and quite crowded yet the management, wait staff, and bar staff were all friendly and made sure everyone was taken care of and able to enjoy themselves.
