Stopped here to grab something to eat before my son's soccer game near by. We drove all the way from Staten Island and although the food was ok.. the service from the waitress we had was disappointing to say the least
It's a cute little cozy diner. The manger was very sweet and accommodating with seating. We started outside because there was a bit of a wait for indoor seating. We had a heavy set Dominican waitress who had a nasty attitude from the beginning.. I guess she did not like the type of people she was serving. She was extremely condescending with her responses. I had asked her to repeat something that was on the menu and instead I was met with a sigh of annoyance as if I inconveniencing her.
We were a party of 3 (me, my son and my Dad) we all ordered burgers and read on top that fries included. When taking our orders the snarky waitress asked us what type of fries we wanted not indicating that there was an additional charge from regular fries.. it was presented as an option not a substitute. When we received the bill low and behold each of us had and additional $2.95 x3 added to bill for a handful of tater tots. I could've bought a whole bag for $3 had I known that would be that much of an additional charge. We presented this issue to the waitress and she began to show us on the menu the substitutions and their prices. I had to explain to her that she did not mention that while we were ordering and that she presented it as option rather than a substitution.
She gave a forced smile and insincere apology as she walked away rolling her eyes... And because of her behavior she received a very little.. I was inclined to leave her absolutely nothing after her behavior towards me and my family. Because of this I will not be returning. I guess she's used to serving a certain demographic in the area and we did not fit her standards of who should receive exceptional service.
I would like to add that I am also a food blogger and part of a large network of food bloggers, culinarians and tasting groups. With that being said, you never know who's walking into your business and the impact they may have on it so treat everyone with respect especially when you depend on them for pay. Although I will not be pursuing this any further this is something I hope management will see...
Read moreWe stopped here last year on our way through Nyack and loved it. We decided to stop again this year. We arrived shortly before lunch, and as expected it was busy. When we walked in we waited a few minutes up front and realized the sign said please seat yourself. We found a table right away and the waitress quickly came over to take our order. While we began ordering a woman with shoulder length brown hair and a clipboard came over and said “NO, NO, NO you’re not on the list!” We were confused and she said you have to be on the list to be seated! We had no idea, because the sign said please seat yourself and no one mentioned “a list”. The waitress was very kind and apologized, however the other woman walked up to the front turned the sign over and said nothing else to us. Her behavior was rude and unprofessional. The appropriate response would’ve been “I’m sorry for the confusion, that was our mistake, we’ll get your name written down and a table shortly”. Honestly it ruined the vibe of this...
Read moreAbsolutely fantastic. Will have to return to try the other 8 things I wanted on the menu. Got the ring of fire burger which wasn't really that hot but I'm the type to get things Indian/Thai spicy at their respective restaurants so your results may vary but despite the fact it wasn't terribly hot it was really well done. Buffalo onion rings should be a thing on their own they were so good and helped balance the richness of the meat and cheese below. The Greek style tater tots were also really good. My partner got the dulce de leches french toast special which looked beyond rich but she said it was very good.
Overall 10/10 would recommend, but good luck deciding what to order. Cant wait to come back
Just to edit, got the caprese burger on the second visit and that was great too. I really don't think you can go wrong ordering anything here. It's gonna be delicious. Just not a good spot if you...
