My mother-in-law wanted to try this restaurant for a dinner with neighbors on Saturday and I was pleasantly surprised. Overall we had a very positive experience and the food was enjoyable and well prepared. I liked the variety of seafood and seasonal touches on the menu. We loved the basil pesto they serve with the bread and the cocktails were enjoyable and well made. I had the special salmon rillette appetizer and while it was good, I wished I had ordered the scallop with the risotto appetizer because another member of our party ordered it and it looked fantastic. I like smoked salmon and goat cheese and the filling was well seasoned, and the beets and mango were a nice complement to the dish. The rillettes were perhaps a bit overstuffed with cheese, and quite filling. The grilled shrimp with crispy angelhair pancake looked good although my mother-in-law left her pasta untouched as she said she was not used to sweet pasta (presumably from the coconut balsamic sauce). For entrées, I had the sautéed scallops and shrimp with pancetta and wild mushrooms and peas and I thought the dish was a bit salty (but expected it because of the pancetta) it was very well done and the mushrooms were meaty and the pancetta was delicious. The seafood was nicely cooked, I just wish that the scallops were not covered in sauce because they were browned beautifully and presumably had a nice crust at one point. I’m not generally the biggest fan of butternut squash, but the puree on the plate was smooth and heavily seasoned with cinnamon and paired well with the saltiness of the sauce. They don’t have a children’s menu but they offered a few options for my son, and he had linguine Bolognese, which did not look as meaty as the pappardelle Bolognese that my husband had (which was outstanding, the sauce was quite flavorful and the pasta was tender, definitely homemade) but he enjoyed it. I requested that his dish come out first and they accommodated so he could begin eating and not fidgeting quite so much. I normally would not chosee to bring an almost 6-year-old to this restaurant but luckily he was pretty well behaved and the waitress took the time to talk to him. My son wanted the flourless chocolate cake for dessert, which I found a bit dry and crumbly. My mother-in-law ordered the beggars purse and my husband and I split one. It’s hard not to like melted chocolate inside Filo dough. If I hadn’t been so stuffed, that would’ve been my dessert of choice and although I did not have any of the sorbet, I assume the tartness was a wonderful complement to the richness of the chocolate. Service was fairly attentive with water refilled almost too aggressively, cocktail refills were a bit slow and after we ordered our first round of drinks, the drink menus were removed so we had to ask for them again. But overall, the food was delicious and the chef was walking around and checked on us and we had a very good experience. By the time we left after about 2 1/2 hours, the restaurant was packed and there was a live singer so it was loud in the restaurant. The clientele is on the mature side. Overall we really enjoyed our food and the experience and would...
Read moreWe just went to Broadway Bistro for the first time - the food was good, but we had a strange experience with the service which was rude enough to drive me to write this review. My wife is vegetarian and ordered a dish on the specials menu that was meat-free - it arrived with pancetta on it - we calmly asked the waitress about it, she responded rudely that "crispy pancetta is the first thing it says on the menu" - we were surprised but assumed we had just missed it so we accepted her rudeness as a result of us inconveniencing her - moments later the chef came out and explained that the pancetta was part of the sauce so he would have to make a new sauce, but emphasized again that pancetta is the first thing it says on the menu for this dish, which made my wife feel badly that both of them made a point to say that to us. The dish came back out with a new sauce - we finished the meal - on our way out we took a look at the menu, no mention of pancetta anywhere on the description. Everything was fine and the food is good here - but given how expensive this restaurant is, the behavior from the staff was rude enough (and also strangely inaccurate knowledge of their own menu) that it put us off and we won't be returning. I'm sure your experience will be great based on most other reviews - but - they deserved this...
Read moreBeen eating here 3-4 times a year for years. Never had a bad meal. Meals always well presented, flavoful and imaginative. The prices are reasonable for the qualty of food. The atmosphere is relaxed and calming. Tonight we both had the mushroom soup which was a bowl of earthy goodness. I had the panko crusted flounder which was perfectly done and just the right amount to satisfy me. She ALWAYS orders the angel hair pancake with grilled shrimp which is a appetizer but she orders it entree size. She ALWAYS loves it. The staff is very efficient and attentive. Ken the bartender makes a killer mojito and he really does it with care. The star of the show is the waiter Patrick he is very attentive and is the utmost professional super friendly and obliging. Looking for a quick bite, a romatic dinner or to take someone out to impress? This is the place. (Forgive my.pictures we took a bite or two then I realized I...
