I felt compelled to leave a review for the Huntington Learning Center in Massapequa. My daughter, Ava, who is a strong student and is now a senior at St. John's High School, has been attending sessions at the HLC of Massapequa Center for SAT prep.
Ava initially took a practice test to determine her strengths and weaknesses on the exam. This was an EXCELLENT starting point. Not only for the experience in taking the exam, but the fact that there is an individualized plan to focus SPECIFICALLY on Ava's weaknesses so she can obtain her best score (AND fingers crossed, a scholarship!) I am confident that Ava's time investment on top of my investment as a parent, makes sure time and money are not wasted.
Ava was disappointed in her initial score and knows she has some work ahead of her. She was discouraged. After her first and second sessions in Math and Verbal - both teachers made her feel confident to aim HIGH and the only place for her score to go is up! I would like to personally thank Joe, Ava's Math teacher, and Ben, Ava's English Teacher, for instilling confidence and a "can do" attitude with my Ava right from the start. I know it was a heavy lift to get her to believe she has in it her to do well.
Ava also has expressed to me that she had no idea how to approach the test and the tips that were already shared with her have her looking forward to her next practice test - never thought I would hear those words.
HLC Massapequa - you are doing an outstanding job!
Finally, thank you, Sara Ramirez. You helped meet up an excellent schedule for my teenager this summer and I know she is off to great places with you! Thank you again. I look forward to leaving another review when Ava completes...
Read moreMy daughter attends a Catholic High School where common core is not taught. She’s an “A student” and a great math student but the initial SAT and ACT scores did not reflect her abilities. Many colleges/Schools of Nursing require at least a 1200 or better on the SAT score these days. Since Nursing is her intended major, conquering this hurdle was absolutely necessary for admission consideration in many direct admit Nursing programs. I was skeptical when I was told to expect a 150 point increase in her scores after just a few short weeks of tutoring; however, after Huntington Learning Center helped my daughter to learn the strategy to decipher the common core related math questions and improve her ability to sort through key points in reading passages more rapidly, her August SAT score increased a whopping 170 points! This score positioned her very comfortably for admission to her desired college choices and also moved her into an excellent position for consideration of substantial academic scholarship funding. A big “Thank You” to Amanda Smith, Meghan and the wonderful tutors at Huntington Learning Center of Massapequa. My daughter’s early action applications are completed and sent out to all of her intended colleges. It is a huge relief to be able to relax now and allow her to enjoy her...
Read moreThe staff is very welcoming and helpful. My son is going there for SAT Test Prep. Loved how they broke down the evaluation so we knew what my son needed help with, where his strong points were, from that they came up with a game plan. So far my son enjoys going and says his tutors are very nice...
