Nasty experience about an hour and an half ago with the older female Indian/South Asian employee in the back of the store. I had been browsing Target for a while, waiting for someone who was inside the mall, had already made my purchase, and being somewhat tired had decided to sit on a chair in the chair section which was placed out. I was wearing a visor and after a few minutes I decided to lean my head on my propped up hand, which seemed to offend this woman, who came out of nowhere and BARKED at me aggressively “No sleeping, chair is for selling not sleeping!”. How rude and utterly embarrassing. Taken completely aback, I replied “oh ok” and gingerly got up while she watched- she then stared at me as I collected my bag and slowly walked away, even following me a few paces, as if she were afraid I’d return to the chair. What in the world? The chair was clearly out on the floor to be seen and tried out, and had clearly been heavily used- stains and signs of usage by other customers. Appalling that this is behavior from the employee of a store that wants customers to make purchases. I hope somebody reads this, heck, I hope even she reads this. This woman needs to relearn retail and customer interaction at a minimum. I severely doubt that she would have shouted at a large man for instance, rather than a minority female on her own. Screw her and her chair! Not going back to this store because of this individual.
Overall impression of the store unrelated to this employee- large and decent selection but has gaps in inventory as evidenced by empty areas of shelving, items available for pickup at other stores in the area which are not available at this one. Staff generally alright, if disinterested, and sometimes don’t seem to know the layout of the store. I understand in a way the disinterest, because this can be a tiring job day in and day out- knowledge of their own workplace should be paramount however just from a...
Read moreI had a deeply upsetting and disturbing experience at the Target located in Broadway Mall in Hicksville, NY—a store I’ve been shopping at for over a decade. As a Muslim woman who wears a headscarf, I was harassed by a customer who followed me into an aisle, aggressively asked where I was from, and told me to “go back to my country,” claiming she was a Veteran. I felt targeted, unsafe, and completely alone. Thankfully, I was able to start recording the interaction, at which point she ran off.
To make matters worse, there was no staff or security present to assist. When I found an employee and asked for the manager, I was casually told to go wait in line at customer service. I asked the cashier to call the manager, but she simply gestured for me to wait again. When the manager finally arrived, I showed her the video of the incident. She briefly reviewed it with another employee, then told me to let them know if I saw the woman again. That was it. No one offered to escort me, check security cameras, or even attempt to locate this clearly threatening individual.
No person—regardless of their background—should have to endure racist harassment in a public place, especially in a store where safety and respect should be a basic expectation. Target needs to urgently review how their employees respond to incidents of discrimination and take real steps to protect their customers. This was not only disappointing—it was...
Read moreSo I wish I can say I have had great experiences at this target, unfortunately I cannot! I legit HATE this target!! Everything down to the toothpaste is locked up, to get someone to come help you takes forever. I have gone on 3 different occasions for 3 different items thats locked up; once i waited 10 minutes for body wash! the other 2 times I legit had to walk around the store looking for someone to help me and when I did they had to go look for someone who had the key. They never have anything stocked and they take forever to restock! Their ulta section?! sad!!! its basically EMPTY! they never have what you need in that section either! You can never find someone to help you but you can always find a "secret shopper" tryna NOT to be obvious when you're in a section too long. There's more security than there is ppl who work there it seems! I work nearby so I always HAVE to come there for little personal things or things for work & I end up always having to go to the next Target because this one seems to never have anything!! The shopping experience here never gives me good vibes. I know every store struggles with theft but when it comes down to: You can't ever get toothpaste cause its locked up is insane! might as well close this location all together!! Levittown & Westbury Target is so...
