Came in on a spur of the moment trip while visiting Palmyra to fish the canal with my son. It was canal days so we stopped outside the store at their table and purchased a fishing knife for him. Then we into the store because I love antiquing. We browsed and stopped at a shelf of more hunting/fishing knives to look. My son is really into them and collects. I was supervising and he was not opening anything. As mentioned we had already purchased one at a table they had outside the store. The were not busy and no one had asked us if we needed help. Out of no where the women behind the counter says “ ummmm can I asked that you NOT touch every single one of those if you aren’t going to buy one” I let her know that we already had outside the store. She replied with “thanks but those aren’t even the same people”. We then left immediately and made it clear why.
I’m not sure what that meant but they were right outside of your store selling the same knives you had in your store which made me come in. Perhaps if you had been a little kinder to me and my son who was mortified because he had done nothing wrong we would have purchased another one for his collection or something else. The way you treat people especially kids is pretty important these days.
My advice. Be nicer to your customers. Don’t assume they are up to no good. Maybe ask if they have questions or need help? If you have problems with unsupervised kids and knives put them behind the counter.
For anyone looking to come here. Maybe skip it, don’t bring your kids and definitely don’t touch anything. They only want you if you are spending your money. Bring cash because they don’t take...
Read moreUnfortunately I should have listened to the concerns of others that the owner is rude and abrasive towards children. My child and I had been thrifting and stopped here together. We are local and I’ve been on my own many times. My child was so excited and giggling at everything they saw. They were being extremely careful around everything and would ask me before they touched anything. The owner snapped and chastised my daughter and was extremely rude. She insinuated that we would not have had the money to touch a more costly item so to stay away. I was appalled as this is not a high end antique store and is much more or the thrift garage sale finds. Regardless of cost, to speak to customers and children that way is just not acceptable. We left immediately as it was clear from her demeanor any of my words would fall on deaf and defensive ears. Although I will never be going back, I would say a sign on the door that states no children allowed...
