The Crafted Kup — Restaurant in Town of Poughkeepsie

Not the most spectacular latte but a fair effort. The flavor is weak generally and not really hot like a coffee drink should be. The staff was a little standoffish, not very warm and inviting like you might expect in a coffeehouse. I asked to explain some of the flavors they offered, and it seemed as though my question was an annoyance. I asked for them to suggest a flavor and they said I could have any of the flavors on their list. After asking again what they would recommend, and getting "you can get any of the flavors" I ordered a basic option but was dissatisfied with the experience. However, the environment was nice. I really like the feel of the place. It's rustic and trendy. Comfortable. A step up in customer service and a friendlier smile would go a long way, and a little more engagement with the customers, offering suggestions would bring this place up to a 5 star stop.

Update: It was nice to see a response and request to talk more. I sent the email, two days after the response I received from them, and have yet to see anything further. No follow through. I've searched my email, junk mail, you name it. No reply. And my last two visits have been marginally better. The staff are much more concerned with talking to each other than interacting with customers. I had only one decent interaction there, but that was likely only because there was only one staff up front. Dropped to two stars, only because the kitchen guy is nice and the one experience I had was moderately acceptable. It will sadly be the last time I visit which is a bit of a disappointment because I am looking for a coffee place to hang out during the day when I'm working. Had an appointment at doctor across the street,in Eastdale Village,which is a very quaint,well planned out new "town" that reminded me of a utopian small community only seen in movies. I could sense the aroma of amazing coffee from across the street. I saw the awning that said scratch baked goods,and I decided I had to visit this visually welcoming cafe. Once I entered,I was immediately drawn to the glass case of what could only be described as a plethora of obviously well crafted baked delicacies. I was mesmerized and fixated on what I can say with full conviction were the biggest most decadent cinnamon rolls I had ever seen. They couldn't even be described as any typical "roll" as they resembled heavenly bricks of sweet deliciousness. One could easily feed 3 people with just a single order. I know you're probably thinking," Ok,they looked great,but did they taste as good as they looked?" Well,the extremely courteous counter person packaged my purchase in what looked like a custom fit box where the icing had no danger of sticking to the top as long as I kept the box level. When we arrived home,I opened the box like a treasure. After cutting a small slice and warming the roll for 15 seconds,I dug into what was an experience that exceeded euphoria if you know what I mean. It was the perfect balance of sweet,not overly sugary,and the perfect blend of cinnamon everywhere. The icing I cannot describe in words that would do it justice. We were visiting the town (Vassar) and found this place, looked nice with lots of college students so we ordered coffees, pastries and sandwiches($45). While waiting to pick up our order my husband pointed me some mice droppings lying on the counter and more on the shelves where they display the brownies and cookies. The shelves/stand had a generous amount of it. I was in disbelief. We mentioned it to the manager who dismissed it saying it was actually seeds, clearly it wasn’t. Then my husband pointed all the locations he could spot the mice poop and the very same manager was very rude, dismissing it and clearly didn’t care doing anything about it saying that he would take a look at it later. We asked for a refund and tried to reason with him once again and he said he was very busy so we left to never go back again. Terrible customer service, deplorable sanitary conditions.
