Iāve thought about a few times and the right thing to do is to publicly shine light on this situation so other parents are aware. Iāve been going to best fitness about 7 months now. Iāve used the Kidz Club each visit as itās the main reason I signed up for this gym in the first place. My son is 15 months old and is going through a very clingy stage and Iāve seen how annoyed they have gotten before with his fussiness in the past and I try my best to get there in a timeframe thatās not too crowded so he can get settled. Ms Rachel always does the trick and Iāve started to not offer it at home so when he gets at the kids club, he not fussy and pretty much out of their hair. Itās to the point that when he gets there, the tv is on for him. Yesterday he was the first kid in the kids club ( like I said, try my best to get there early) , generally heās in a rocker, strapped in and watching tv. That was not the case this time. Although there was no other child there when I left him, they never bothered to strap in into the rocker. Instead, he was left on a chair to watch tv. When I got back to get him, he was screaming. When I asked whatās wrong the young staff there responded āhe had a little tumbleā I then had to ask if he fell off the chair. She responded āhe didā in a very reserved tone. I looked over at the corner where the rocker is usually sitting and it was there, unoccupied. I obviously became visually upset and took my screaming child from her arms and dressed him to leave because they were obviously too lazy or couldnāt be bothered to put him in the rocker and secure him. On my way out, I looked over at her and in the most unpleasant facial expression sheās talking to her co worker and looking over at me. I held my composure infront the other parents and went to the manager to explain what had happened as well as how annoyed I was by the whole situation. She apologized and basically said so sorry but this is not a daycare, itās a kidz club and āthings happenā. Now if this were an incident that couldnāt be avoided because kids are wild and reckless , I would totally understand that comment, but neglecting to put a child in a seat thatās more age appropriate with properly restraint , thatās unacceptable. The manager trying to justify this neglect is even more disgusting. If you have older children that are able to walk, talk and properly communicate then this could be a place for them whilst you get a quick work out in but do not waste you time or money thinking this is a good option for younger toddlers as this as these preventable situations at Best Fitness are labeled as āit happensā and as nice as the staff may seem, please note that your childās safety is not a priority because āthis is not...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEdit: to reply to reply from owner - I did contact the gym and was told refunds could not be guaranteed because apparently nothing is approved at the local gym level. Not agreements. Not refunds. Everything must be approved by corporate - whom are NOT located at the local gym and unable to be contacted. Unless you have the patience for being misled on contract lengths and your money being withdrawn erroneously and then taking days of escalations and return calls that, for whatever reason, takes 72 hours to get back to you - RUN. My daughter and I went in to sign up. I was told monthly $39.99 for me and $29.99 for her because she was a student. Sounds good because it is a nice gym with some good classes so I cancel our other gym membership. So weāre going to the gym. Then I notice I have been charged for my daughterās account but not mine. I go in and inquire as to why. Iām told ācorporate will not approve my membership unless I sign a 2 year agreementā¦ā Right. I say no thanks since I was not told about that up front. Now I have no gym. Fine, things happen. Fast forward a month and I am charged for my daughterās next month TWICE in 2 different locations! My credit card is charged $32.99 for the actual membership cost, a credit card fee, and $1 for ātanning serviceā. Then my bank account is charged $29.99 for just the monthly fee. Okay, again, things happen, I was not told upfront (a trend?) about the $2.99 credit card fee so when I find out about it I ask to use my bank account instead to avoid the fee (thatās a whole month of membership over 1 year gone in fees). Im told a ārewriteā needs to be done to make that change. So I do it the day after we sign up. Fast forward a month and Iām being charged everywhere. On calling ABC fitness I discover they think theyāre charging me for last month $32.99 (including an alleged ātanning serviceā for a half black, half Guatemalan child of color) and for the current month the straight $29.99 when I was already charged $31.99 immediately at sign up last month for last month. Insanity. I have no more faith in this place to get things right so I will just have to have my credit card company deal with this place removing folksā monies from multiple places for the same service and ridiculous $1 tanning services for people of color. And anyways what tanning service is $1??? 2 starts since the gym is nice and there are...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAfter my twins were born, I was always too busy to go to the gym (or at least that's what I told myself). Then before I knew it 10 years had passed and I had put on a lot of excess weight. I never felt good, let alone how it affected me mentally every time I looked in the mirror or had to shop for clothing. Then in December I finally got sick and tired of being sick and tired. A friend suggested I give her gym a try and I started my membership at Best Fitness Schenectedy that month. Little did I know I was going to strike GOLD!!! I love this place. It's clean, there truly is no feeling of being judged, and there's no high pressure environment. I did do an evaluation that led me to hire a trainer but that was my decision and I had many years to make up for in neglecting myself. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. I've even had to ask a few other members for help on occasion and they've been super. I'm finally finding myself again. Three months after joining, I had lost 13 pounds and was down almost 5% body fat. I'm smiling again when I look in the mirror! Don't get me started on my trainer, Alana B. This woman is a key factor in my successes. She's understanding but firm, professional, knowledgeable, motivating, encouraging and always positive even when she has to push me a little harder. She's real and has an energy that's contagious. I always leave the gym feeling like I've accomplished something that's going to get me to my end goals. Ryan T was my first experience with an instructor for any of the classes. His HITT classes will kick your butt but are so rewarding. He is perfect at making you feel like you can achieve anything and that you belong here. His ability to inspire your best will make you want to set your alarm to take his next class. I do believe I've found my home. All of my experiences here have been positive from billing to employees and the facility itself I would strongly encourage anyone to give it a try. What is there to lose other than extra weight and negative self thoughts?
