Alto Music - Dutchess County — Attraction in Town of Wappinger

Well generally Alto is an quality place to find musically equipment. But I’d suggest going somewhere else if you looking for more classical instruments. My sister, while receiving her viola had violin strings instead of viola strings. Which isn’t exactly correct. And is somewhat ironic seeing that the viola usually plays the alto part of a composition.

I’d also say their keyboard supply is somewhat lacking, (now this is biased because my ideal keyboard supply is an entire church where every atom is replaced with a synthesizer.) but then again alto is more centered around guitars and drums. So if your looking for gear relating to drums and guitars then alto is a perfect fit. Their supply of different drum sticks is great! And their collection of symbols are fantastic as well! Not to mention their quality Latin percussion section as well. Now I’m not a guitarist myself so I can’t directly state how their guitars Mach up to the drums, but from what I’ve heard from my friends it is of good quality.

And hey their classical instruments section might be better now, but I, from my personal experience I can’t say I trust them with that section. Still a great...

There isn’t enough stars for this place !!!!!! ... The BEST staff EVER !!!!!! ... my boyfriends life long dream has been to have a acoustic guitar .. I found a nice used Yamaha and bought it up to Alto to get it re-strung. I don’t know much about guitars , but a soon as I walked through the doors I was greeted immediately and told know problem we will help you and THEY all did .. Thankyou to Associate Steve he had that guitar restrung in a matter of minutes. Plus helped me pick out a nice hard case ,stage stand and of course picks ... I didn’t get all the other staffs name except Rita that rung up my purchases.. But everyone of them went above and beyond to help me fulfill my boyfriends dream .. And needless to say I couldn’t hold out to Christmas , and gave it to him last night .. he was astounded !!!!!! THANKYOU Alto staff for all of your SUPURB customer service !!!!!!! Really nice staff and great to have a brick and mortar around to actually look at gear in-person.

They have a fair amount of stock on-hand across instrument/equipment types that should be helpful to most customers. The studio/synth/workstation section was a little lacking (although they have a good montior selection); I guess lot of newer options are software-based, but there are still a lot of interesting companies releasing synths and sampling workstations. The drum section is pretty well stocked with items, but didn't have a lot of kits actually out to test and was a little claustrophobic.

My only actual complaint is that most days they're open 11a to 5p which is odd because most people have a job...it seems like closing at 7 or 8p would be more appropriate.
