Vista Lanes Bowling Center — Attraction in Town of Whitestown

I don't normally write reviews, but I thought this one was worth writing. My girlfriend and I went a couple nights in a row. The first night there was some annoyance with the lane not working properly. It was taking forever to get out ball back. We would hit the call button but staff didn’t pay any attention to it. After going up to the counter for the third time I asked for a new lane. They were more than willing to do that for us and gave us an extra 30minutes to bowl. That lane was doing the same thing as well.l but we didn’t bother to say anything. We just dealt with it and enjoyed the rest of our night as much as possible. The following day we wanted to take our son bowling. He is three and we called around before going out that 1. They had open bowling.... no leagues playing. And 2) that they had shoes in his size. They said they had ONLY open bowling that day/night, which was great because the other places we called didn’t. When we arrived we asked how long of a wait there would be. They said about an hour because half the bowling alley was was being occupied by bowling leagues. When I turned to my girfriend to confirm that she called about that; The lady behind the counter, with a very snarky attitude said to me, “there are people that came in before you.” First of all, I WAS NOT talking to the lady behind the counter. I was Asking my girlfriend if she called, because she specifically called there to ask if there was any leagues playing there that night! This woman lied to her over the phone and said that there was ONLY open bowling! I could have left there feeling okay, even though this lady lied to us, but her remark she made when we got there was just uncalled for. My son was very upset and not understanding why we were leaving without having bowled, thinking he did something wrong. This lady could have spared us the tears and just told the truth over the phone. But thankfully we found another place with much nicer...

Just wanted to share with everyone what I experienced today. I wanted to bring Chase bowling, so I brought him to Pinz in the mall. The new bowling/arcade. I also had a 5$ gift card that Chase received on Halloween when we went tricker treating in the mall. For Chase and I to bowl ONE game and for shoes... It was 27$ - so I went to use my gift card and they said I could only use it on the arcade. So I said “Okay, just give me a moment because I want to see if Vista Lanes is cheaper.” Because I only picked there to use the gift card that’s been in my wallet for months. Well sure enough Vista was cheaper. The staff was very nice about it. Also might I add they wouldn’t of had my shoe size because they only had a “limited amount” of each size. So I go to VISTA Bowling Center and for one game it was $15. Tony, the owners daughter was extremely helpful. She even went above and beyond to set up Chase and my name so we would be able to have gutters for just Chase. Also, she picked him out a ball and for me, and brought over a ramp for him to use. They came over and asked if we were having fun, and we were so we bought another game for 8$ for the two of us. I just want to tell you, the newest coolest thing in town isn’t always the best. Vista is a small local family owned business. Her father has been bowling for 77 years! He was bowling next to us and was so friendly! This place is clean and absolutely friendly. Don’t forget about the locally owned businesses people! Especially when they are better. It was such a better atmosphere for just my son and I to enjoy some bowling. Lastly, Pinz also had short lanes and the fake bowling pins that are on strings. It’s not an actual lane like Vista! Please just reconsider if you are looking for a cheap fun thing to do with family. Awful, I called a month in advance, spoke with a women there trying to plan and bring a group of 10. She told me they don’t do reservations, but the day I had picked out they weren’t expecting many customers and there were no tournaments. So I end up showing up before hand to rent a few lanes before everyone arrives, and the lady I spoke with over the phone was working and told there was a tournament and a birthday taking place and they have no lanes… It took everything in me not to cuss her out then and there. Absolutely unacceptable service, I had told her I called in advance and was told I couldn’t reserve a lane, but that they would have the room anyway and she looked me dead in the eyes and shrugged, telling me there is nothing she can do. I was trying to avoid going to AMF lanes and support a more local operation but this being my first visit? I advise everyone to not support this business, they couldn’t care less about their...
