Truckee Donner Recreation and Park District — Attraction in Truckee

The rec center is ok, but in the rush to add expensive new amenities to Truckee, the master plan is falling a bit short of actually serving the residents of the area. Classes are redundant and expensive for what they are. Truckee's housing crisis means it is almost impossible to recruit and retain quality imstructors. The pool is just one big red flag. Flooding, cramped locker rooms, broken showers make before and after pretty unpleasant. Very few lap lanes that are almost always crowded. Last time I was there, staff member was eating in the pool. Great swim class instructors here. They always take the time to talk with us at the end of our kids swim lessons about what is working and where they can improve. Watch out for the snack stand though, once your kids discover they gave treats, you’ll get promoted for one after each lesson.
