Thought I would stop by to check out the local Humane Society while visiting Truckee. Although smaller than the facility in my hometown, this is a very clean and compassionately run organization. The staff were warm and welcoming from the moment I entered the front door. There were volunteers in the cat room, as well as several in sitting and socializing with the 6 dogs there that day. A few other visitors were looking seriously at taking home a dog and that excitement was palpable. Read moreMy 10 year old Chihuahua, Rusty, snack out the door and creamer got out of our fence and disappeared while I was at work. He was picked up by a neighbor and dropped at the Truckee Animal Shelter. They posted his picture right away on Facebook and the people of Truckee rallied to help me find him there. The employees were so kind to me and so considerate of my income status . they totally helped me with getting Rusty and my other dog Scout, all squared away and set up for shots, licenses and neutering! ! In the end, rustys escape helped to make me into a better mama. Thank you T.T.A.S. and the Humane Society for setting us up...
