I was here today studying for an AP exam with a few of my classmates in one of the conference rooms. We booked the room for four hours (or so we thought) using two different library cards. Once our third hour was over, someone came in and told us they had reserved the room. We told them we thought that we had as well, but were willing to leave since we had already been there for a few hours. The people went to go talk to the librarians about the scheduling conflict and mentioned that it had happened to them a few times before. A librarians came into our room and was extremely condescending while speaking to us. We told him we were fine with leaving multiple times, but he continued to speak to us in a very rude tone, accusing us of staying in the room for too long already and telling us we had to leave immediately. He then pulled my friend out who had made the reservation and took her to the front desk. There, he and another librarians continually told her we had to "vacate the room." Granted, she did accidentally reserve the room for an hour after we had thought, but the absolute rudeness we were greeted with when dealing with a simple mistake is incredible to me. Once she came back with the news, yet another librarian stood at the door while we collected our belongings. I am extremely frustrated with the way were treated while simply studying for an exam and will not be going back to reserve a room...
Read more+JMJ...My!my!my! I visited this library so many times during the 22 years I lived in Richmond Virginia. Greatly enjoyed their collection of old timey, classic, and 1930s, 1940s videos and movie DVDs (they had a great selection before Netflix came on the scene though not as extensive.) I even spent time looking for books of interest: languages, travel, archeology. Additionally, I like that they schedule educational events. Attended a very informative talk on the life of trees and types of soil - free! This library is a blessing to the area providing an amazingly collection of books, tapes, DVDs, magazines and newspapers. Wish I had known of Google Maps at that time. I would load up my review with photos of this Library's lovely, landscaped...
Read moreMany books are out dated, the use of public computers are heavily restricted, landscape design allowed for the lost of over half of its planting due to incredible poor instalation, no irrigation on steep terrain for young trees, general neglect, costing the county tax payers possibly as much as 90 thousand dollars, to include libary plantings on the backside of the property fence. The library architectural design is beautiful but the design incorporates a masive waste of unusable space. The loss of rare and expensive trees and shrubbery is on going and sickening. Pretty stupid stuff for a library and Henrico County Grounds Maintance which are sub...
