Worst experience! Because I love my gym so much (LA fitness in Oro Valley), I decided to refer a friend. From past experience, I knew she would be able to try the gym out for free for a week and see if she liked it. This location was closer to our work so we decided to come here. What a mistake! The gentleman at the front desk were the only ones that made me decide to even give this a 1 star because they were incredibly nice. We walked in and as they were attempting to help set her up for a guest pass, Ben intervened. He was incredibly rude and waved me on saying, "you're fine" but pointed at my friend and told her to come here (to his desk) and sit down. He then told me that there was no week long guest pass (which after talking to the manager in Oro Valley, that was not true) and that everyday we attended the gym, it was a $15 charge. He then asked me what rate I paid and then told her that that would not be an option for her before she had even had the opportunity to put her gym clothes on and try this gym out for the FIRST time EVER. My friend and I just looked at eachother and I simply asked "can't she just try it out before we start talking about how much she needs to pay?" His response was priceless, "well it's my job to try and sell you something, so that's what I'm doing." My friend and I work in retail (top 5 retailer for best customer service) and we sell for a living, but in no way would we EVER tell a customer that that is our job and that's all we are trying to do for them. We finally got signed up for God knows what and as we walked into the locker room, we decided that we didn't deserve to be treated that way and left to go to my home gym in Oro Valley. One of the guys at the front desk ended up calling us back and apologized for the way that we were treated as he witnessed it all. Not only was it incredibly embarrassing for me because I talked so highly of LA fitness to her, but how embarrassing to be an employee at this location and witness someone higher up than you, treat a customer that way and think it's completely acceptable. We will never be back to this location and I advise you...

I was in the market for a new gym after graduating from the UA. I am a very critical consumer and I did my homework before visiting this gym. I have to say that many of the reviews here paint a poor picture, so I thought I'd share my experience as you shop for the best gym for you.
Note: I visited most of the commercial gyms in Tucson prior to signing up, and I enjoyed a 3-day trial run over most of the one-day passes. It ensured the best fit for me.
Pros: Big open space (Chuze and Planet feel so small in their strip mall style), lots of different machines, pool, courts, Large variety of free classes. No contract.
Cons: Busy at 4:30-6pm, only open until 8pm on weekends, no towel service for the pool
I would like to mention two key inquiries in my consideration of this facility. If you note other ads, people say they feel uncomfortable because of the "bros" and "meatheads." I was reasonably concerned about this. I have found quite the opposite. There is the full range of people here. I personally think the old ladies are adorable. Everyone is kind and respectful. Even though, I lift 20lbs next to someone lifting 100lbs. There has never been any hostility.
Another consideration was the busy hours. Simple reality. It is busy. I like to go at 8pm. A lot less people. (and yes there are 8pm classes).
You will read about the sales people in the comments. This is a business folks. Yes, they are trying to make a sale. Look online before you go in. See if there are coupons and deals. Know the price you can get. Be a smart consumer. I notice that only people that complain seem to post.
Hope this helps you. Picking a gym can be a very stressful experience! But this place helps me...
Read moreWhere do I even begin—I’m a member of this LA fitness because it is essentially my only option because it is the only place close to me that offers child care for my 4 and 2 year olds. Everywhere else that I’ve called—and I call around every other month due to my dissatisfaction—does not offer child care, mostly due to the ongoing pandemic. However, the child care facilities here are the worst. They have a FEW donated toys from parents (that I’ve never seen cleaned or sanitized), a small play structure, and a TV. For a MULTIBILLION DOLLAR company—as they stated several times while I was signing up—they should be able to invest a couple hundred dollars into some new toys that kids will play with. My kids NEVER want to come to the gym because they get so bored and unfortunately they end up watching an hour of TV every morning while I work out. I have tried talking to a manager about this issue, but they always say “this is a corporate issue.” 🙄
I also enjoy doing class workouts, but the classes offered at LA fitness are all taught by older individuals and the pace of the class, the class participants and the music choices reflect that. I have tried three different classes and they’re just not challenging and I’m always the youngest one by 20 years. Can you not add some more challenging classes that are geared towards the younger crowd—something similar to orange theory classes, high fitness, surge, boot camp! If you offered challenging classes taught by young fitness gurus with some current music, you would attract a lot of people who are interested in mixing up their workouts from day to day (while still getting a really good workout...
