Read moreFrom reading previous posts, it is quite clear that nothing has changed with the faultiness of the Captain's Cove room props, as well as the game masters being rather unhelpful. I will try not to reveal the details of the room, but suffice it to say, out of 200 rooms we've done, this one ranks as one of the most disappointing ones - so much so that we almost just walked out and left. The games master did not set up the 'story' very well and failed to make the room even sound interesting. He was also not very attentive in watching us PROPERLY solve a puzzle correctly and to realize that something was not right. After calling him into the room, he repeated the solution and the trigger for the result was stuck. However, he looked at us and and kept insisting that we weren't doing it correctly - yet when he did it himself, the prop was stuck so there is no way we would have known how to move forward. We literally wasted 10 minutes re-attempting that puzzle. Further to this the clues provided to us were not reasonable to the room. Nowhere in the room would we have known where to place certain magnets. Even when finally told where to place them the mechanism was finicky. Once triggered, the clock also kept going and there was no indication that we had escaped. There were 16 minutes left on the clock yet I received an email afterwards saying 'You almost escaped'. This was our second visit to Cinergy but will very likely...
I love Cinergy overall, but this was the first time I did one of their escape rooms and It was a bummer. I did the Pirate's Cove escape room at Cinergy Tulsa on 12/27/22 and was disappointed with the experience. The room we went into was faulty and had missing pieces. The first door we tried to open (even after unlocking it appropriately) was jammed shut, causing us to loose time. In the last room we had to open a treasure chest with magnetic rings which were also faulty. For at least 10 minutes we tried to open this chest the way that they had told us when we asked for a clue and still it would not open. A worker came Into the room to assist, opened it, complained about the faulty magnetic rings that were being used and how they weren't strong enough, then immediately closed it saying "well y'all are basically finished anyways". We asked what was in the chest and she said "nothing". She then admitted that she had broken the prop (a bottle or glass of water or something like that) that goes in the chest (when she was refilling it and re-setting the room) and then she proceeded to tell us the rest of the clues and last 5 steps to get out of the room without us asking. She didn't even give us a chance to fully complete the room, which we wouldn't have been able to do anyways because she admitted that a vital prop/clue in the chest was not in place. It was a very disappointing ending and I wish I had asked...
Read moreOur group of 8 did the water landing room. We had no first timers; for my husband and I, this was our 10th escape room. Everybody agreed this was by far the worst room they'd ever done. We were asked at the beginning if anybody had issues with crawling. When we said yes, he told us there was a secret tunnel but he would open a door for us instead; when he did, it reset part of the room and we saw clues we weren't supposed to see. The clues were extremely linear; one clue led to exactly one more, so on and so forth until you were out. This made it very boring when all 8 people were always working on the exact same clue. Our particular room was extremely dark. It also had a safe that made the most annoying sound I've ever experienced in an escape room. The "end" of the room was really stupid; we were all a bit bewildered when the screen said we had made it out. One of the elements didn't work and the guy had to come inside. He also came over the intercom and gave us clues when we explicitly said we didn't want any. The staff in general was the worst of any room we'd ever done. I'm not quite sure how this place has any good reviews. The room had so much wasted space and untapped potential and I can't imagine the other rooms being any different. If you've ever worked a good room (or even a mediocre room) you will be sorely disappointed coming here. There are much better escape...
