Let me just start by saying I love HuHot, I'm from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where a HuHot was until it closed a few years ago. Finally able to take a trip up to Tulsa, to eat two days at HuHot while there visiting. The first visit was great, and everything was great. However the second day had me and my wife disrespected, and also feeling sick to our stomachs.
Our waitress was very inattentive, didn't get a single refill until the very end, and also didn't get offered any appetizers or anything else. The manager came over and mentioned that the waitress is feeling sick and she will be right over. However, we mentioned that someone sick shouldn't be serving tables and sent home, genuine right? Wrong. The manager on duty (I am not sure of her name) argued back with my wife saying we can't send her home as she has tables to finish even if she's sick. Which I found highly unprofessional, and said well what I can do to make you happy, give you a discount?? To me, I would have paid full price for my meal, having a discount wasn't the point of my discussion, just being served by someone who is sick and can't go home having it known makes me sick to my stomach as for biohazards.
The manager argued back the ENTIRE TIME we was just wanting to have a easy discussion about how you mentioned someone is sick, but still won't let them go home and to continue to serve everyone else. (noted that everyone else that heard the commotion got up and left or complained).
On the day before, we were allowed to go boxes to take what was leftover, but told today that wasn't allowed. I and my wife understand that isn't allowed as it's been awhile before coming into a HuHot, but the manager said only those having surgeries/disabled or going up one time are allowed. The first part didn't make sense but I could see the second part. The manager also asked for the previous waitresses name, and I wasn't willing to give that information as the manager on duty mentioned she would be getting in trouble. Just a highly unprofessional situation all around. Very disappointed in one of our favorite places to go when...
Read moreFirst time going going to a HuHot and we really enjoyed it. Food came out great. I do love they have recipe cards, it helps give an idea even if you don't follow them.
Now I have a peanut allergy. I totally did think to mention it to the waitress since it's a "server yourself" feel and I obviously wouldn't grab anything with my allergy obviously in it. (I'm aware of cross contamination risks). I realized how things are cooked (didn't think about it prior) and informed the cooks I have an allergy. Unfortunately to make a clean/safe surface they needed to clean an area. This did cause a back up. Unfortunately another cook didn't hear the information and the bowl was placed in the wrong area and they asked me to remake my bowl for saftey reasons. So, this doesn't upset me as I now know you should inform your waitress and they hand you a plate that indicates you as a "VIP" aka. Food allergy. This alerts the cooks to pre-clean a spot for you. The cooks stayed very kind about the whole thing even it being backed up some. I do feel bad for being the cause of the back up but very much appreciate their patience and taking care in doing their best to accommodate food allergies.
I am still pretty new to navigating food allergies so mentioning it when ordering food is still uncomfortable for me. The employees made me feel comfortable even with the hiccup and I appreciate...
Read morethis review is more so in relation to the service not the food. the prices are great considering you can get pretty much as much food as you want and it was tasty.
but wow the service is lacking. when we walked in we were instantly uncomfortable because one of the three people at the podium with short purple/maroon hair looked at us like we just walked in fifteen minutes after closing with a party of 200. this lady ended up being our server. yay.
she was extremely inattentive and when she started getting too busy she started barking orders at her co workers to pick up her slack. that really upset me. no please or thank you to her co workers just ordering them around. gross. i understand being busy and needing help but you can ask nicely. as soon as I saw her being disrespectful to others she lost her tip. her fellow servers took our plates and got our check for us and asked us if everything was OK and got our drinks. when we asked one of her fellow servers for our check we watched him ask her and she just pointed to the POS and carried on her conversation with another co worker. we only get to go out once a month or so and she made it very uncomfortable. felt like our presence was bothering her. I must've irritated her in...
