Terrible investment. After it was all said and done, it cost $90K for a juris doctorate degree that resulted in a horrible starting salary. They will do next to nothing to help you find a job or an internship unless you're a top 5-10% student. From professors that are rude and/or dismissive to completely failing to prepare students to practice law, this was a terrible experience. Then they have the audacity to ask for money while you're still paying back your student loans with interest.
My personal favorite was the email ad for their Master of Jurisprudence in Energy Law program, which would've required incurring more debt and provided no evidence that it would actually help with a career in the energy industry. Evidently, they didn't get the memo that you can't squeeze blood out of a turnip.
Save your money and go to welding school. Or apply to be a Quiktrip store manager. Both positions pay more and don't require a...
Read moreI graduated from Tulsa College of Law in 1997 and found that it prepared me well for my career. 28 years later I am still going strong and I still lean into what I learned way back then. Tulsa is a wonderful city and a big move from out of state, far from home and to a place where I knew no one, did a lot for me. The professors were excellent and the administration had its priorities straight. I formed a close knit group of friends and we have kept in touch, they all have excelled as lawyers and as people. It took 10 years to pay back the student loans I took out and it was worth every penny (and believe me, I counted every one). If you really want to practice law, don't listened to the negative reviews, every place has these people who didn't put the work in and now blame everyone else. I hope this post was helpful and, wherever you go, never give...
Read moreI had an excellent experience at TU Law. The professors really care about students and will take the time to sit down with students to work through questions or simply to get to know them. Alumni are willing and eager to speak with and help students and other alumni. I am consistently impressed with the school's dedication to social justice, access to legal education, and its focus on student success. Like anything in life, you get out what you put in. For those willing to do the work and who exhibit a good attitude, you will reap...
