I can't thank the staff at South Sound Running enough for their exceptional service! My little brother and I were in need of running shoes, and we were blown away by the personalized attention and expertise we received.
The staff was incredibly patient and took the time to understand our individual needs. My brother is starting his first middle school track season after spring break. He has flat feet and has suffered from ankle sprains in the past, and the staff's understanding of his condition was truly remarkable. They took into consideration his foot shape, his history of injuries, and his budget to find him the perfect pair of shoes - the New Balance 860v13. The shoes provided him with the right amount of support and cushioning, and he felt comfortable and secure while running.
As for me, I needed shoes that would fit my specific feet type and provide the right amount of support for running, as well as versatility for daily use and lifting, and the staff at South Sound Running was equally attentive to my needs. They recommended the Brooks Ghost 14, which was the perfect fit for me. We had the opportunity to try on multiple pairs of shoes and run around to find the right fit and support for our feet.
Overall, the staff's expertise in catering to different feet types and providing personalized service was truly remarkable. I highly recommend South Sound Running to anyone in need of running shoes or any other running gear. Thank you, South Sound Running, for your...
Read moreOk, I’ve tried several times now. The selection is just not there. Very geared towards road running, still don’t really have the major shoes from the all the major brands even for that. No trail running shoes really at all. I’ve gone in several times looking for apparel as well only to be disappointed. Went in looking for wool layers for long trail runs in less than ideal weather, was asked “why do I want to wear wool?” Well it’s the PNW where it’s wet and cold and wool can keep me warm when it’s wet, shouldn’t you know that? Went in looking for smart wool running socks most recently... struck out again. They really have one maybe two brands they stick to for most products, which isn’t really giving the customer a lot of choices. I guess online or stopping in Seattle stores while I pass through are my only options. Coming from towns with good running stores (flagstaff, Missoula) I am very disappointed in ours.
Editing after response. I appreciate your concern, I'd argue my core kit, that focuses on function above all else involves trail running shoes, and wool layers so that I can run. If I were to take the layers you sell on my trail runs most of the year, I would wet out and be miserable...
I think a name change to South Sound Road Runners, or South Sound Track Runners is more...
Read moreI've started to get into fitness again, and challenged myself to run a 5k event. I attempted to practice running, which I haven't done in a long time, around my neighborhood but would get crippling shin splints after only a few minutes. I stopped in here a few days before my 5k and bought a new pair of shoes. The man helping me observed how my feet land when walking/running and suggested shoes according to where I needed the most support. He was very informative about the three pairs I tried and pointed out the differences in each shoe and the benefits of the design. I ended up purchasing the first pair he had me try on, which were the Women's New Balance 860s. I ran my 5k a few days later and was able to maintain a jog the entire time! I did experience shin splints, but not nearly at the level I had before, as this time I was able to push through the discomfort where it would usually be pain. My feet felt like they were hitting the ground correctly and the shoes absorbed so much of the impact they seemed to propel me forward. I didn't expect a new pair of shoes to cure my shin splints, I know that will happen over time, but I was utterly impressed with the difference it made instantly. I am very grateful we have a running store here in Olympia with such knowledgeable and...
