I have been going to Ryan Nail Spa for years and have never had an issue until yesterday. This was the first time I was there in the last 3 months as I was traveling, and I want to know what happened to this place ? Non of the staff that I was familiar with was there. The young lady I was given as a technician did a horrible job on my manicure. First, she asked if I wanted to cut them short. I said âno, only file a littleâ and she filed then all way down to the same length they would have been if I asked her to cut them short. Then she starts cleaning my cuticles but does not soak my fingers in water to soften the skin. She stabs me with the cuticle clippers and acted like I made a big deal of instinctually pulling my hand back because she didnât break the skin. You would think that would be enough to make her be a little more careful, but no. When she reaches my thumb, she succeeds in actually making me bleed this time. My thumb is throbbing today.
I mention to her that usually they use water before to soften the skin so itâs easier for her to take off the dead skin and I was just ignored. She moves to the next hand and more of the same thing. I asked again âwhy do you guys not soak fingers in water anymore?â Once again I was ignored.
She starts to paint my nails and I tell her âthere is still dead skin all around my nailsâ and point out where. She doesnât hide her annoyance and goes back and just takes care of one nail even though I pointed out more. By this time I am extremely annoyed and tell her to just paint them so I can get out of there.
Once sheâs done painting she goes to get up like sheâs done and I look at my nails and she never took care of the edges of the nail so they are all rough. I point this out and again their was an attitude that she still had to file a little more. There was so much polish under my nail that it was sticking to the skin. The polish was also distributed unevenly on some nails. Sometimes the polish goes over my cuticles, sometimes it doesnât.
I am leaving for a business trip and am so embarrassed by how bad my nails look. Such a huge disappointment. I cannot be the only person who feels this way with this new staff. Usually this place is packed on the weekends that you have to wait even if you have an appointment. Yesterday on a Saturday afternoon, there was no one waiting and there were even members of the staff that were just sitting around waiting for someone to come in.
In conclusion, stabbed with cuticle clipper on one finger, made to bleed on another, dead skin still left around the nail, filed too short, bad polish job and annoyed employee. I will not be going back unless I see the...
Read moreThis place is my new go to spot! Before I came to Ryanâs Nail Spa, I was faithfully going to Susanâs Nail Salon on Central Avenue in Jersey City, NJ. My nail technician (Kim) at Susanâs ending up moving and I didnât like any other nail technicians at Susanâs so I was looking for a new nail salon. I had been to various nail salons on Central Avenue and felt that Susanâs was the best so I was determined to find a spot not on Central Avenue. My cousin told me about Ryanâs so I took a chance and went to Ryanâs and got a regular pedicure and the SNS dip powder manicure and I fell in LOVE! Each nail technician at Ryanâs does amazing pedicures but I love John because he really does a great job cleaning and polishing my toes. As for my SNS manicure, I was able to get a French SNS manicure and I never thought I could! My French manicure looked amazing too! I have been coming here for about two months now and I can honestly say that this place is the place to go for anyone who wants to attend a nail salon that is clean, efficient, and has a friendly/polite staff. Prices arenât crazy, if you go M-Th you can get an SNS manicure and regular pedicure for $50 and if you do go on a Friday or during the weekend, itâs a bit more but not too crazy with prices varying from $58 to $65 depending on design. If you are interested in trying a SNS dip powder manicure, come here and book with Jessie! She is amazing and always makes my nails look LIT! Thank me...

I was excited to try this nail salon in the neighborhood. I should have left when they wanted to seat me at a dirty nail tech station. There were cut nails & cuticles all over the mat. She brushed them into a trash bin but it wasnât enough. She finally just removed the mat & I asked her to wipe the station down.
Are we all over Covid & not sanitizing things anymore?
Then she attempted to use a cuticle cutter that still had someone elseâs cuticles & skin in it! 𤎠I told her to clean it & she said it didnât matter bc it came out of that sanitization machine. The manager said the same thing too. What?!? Itâs still unsanitary & who trusts those machines anyway.
My manicure looks like I painted my nails. đ
Needless to say, still on the hunt for a local nail salon without going...
