La Bella Salumeria — Restaurant in Union City

It's been awhile since I wrote a review and this coupled with COVID protocols and so many businesses not meeting the standards I want to mention a business that does the right thing while still putting out the most delicious dishes daily. The sign outside clearly says no more than 4 people at a time. Regulars faithfully line up to wait their turn to pick up fabulous lunches and in my case I'm picking up our dinner as well. Gino puts out daily specials Monday through Saturday. He offers a homemade soup every day (all of them are delicious), several hot dishes are available each day, salads i.e.. he gives you a fresh salad base but you can pick from the many dishes to create your own personal creation. He is very accommodating to his customers. Everything from grilled chicken on salad to a scoop of this and a scoop of that from the numerous cold delights he makes. His sun dried tomatoes for example are off the hook. The fresh mozzarella salad, cannelloni beans in seasoned oil, the pasta salad with cold cuts, the olives, two tuna's Italian version and mayo version, sautéed veggies etc. Been coming here for more than 30 years, love the people, love the food and love the fact that I know my lunch or dinner will be fabulous, fresh and memorable. Lately I have become a fixture as life has been so busy there has not been much time for cooking. One big tip...come early in the day, his specials can go really fast. He makes a ton every day but his regulars know there are a lot of us who stop in all the time. He also offers grocery items like pasta, jarred specialties, oils etc. Stop by and checks out...

I am adding this update to my review because thanks must be shared. For the first time in my life, I catered my Christmas Eve get together because we have just been so busy. Every single one of my guests said how terrific the food was. I had people asking me if they could have a dish to take home before I had the chance to offer. Gino and the crew's love and care showed in every dish we had. Needless to say, my future parties of any kind will have LaBella as a huge part of the event! So happy to back in the neighborhood and near La Bella. Gino's kitchen prepares fabulous hot specials daily. Huge Tip! Get there early. Everyone knows the specials are delicious and they go quickly. They make plenty of trays but they are so popular in the area that if you wait you may miss out. Not just Italian either, their empanada's, rice dishes, pork tenderloin are all fabulous. If you want a sandwich you can never go wrong with his homemade roast beef. I get a roast beef and fresh mozzarella on Italian roll probably once a week. Old school, straightforward deli. I love places like this. It is a neighborhood spot that you can tell does high quality food for their loyal customers. The meatballs were delicious. The sausage and peppers were good but a little greasy. This place sells out the hot food fast so get here early. The mozzarella was a little chewy but still did the trick.
