After almost 3 months coming here I feel the my final review is a 3 out of 5.
The reason my score has dropped is due to being lied to by the sales staff. When I signed up, I signed up under a family plan. I was told that after a month we can break apart the family plan so that two different CCs can be used to pay for the fees. Turns out you can't do that. Oh and that sales reps no longer works for the company, so yeah. Avoid the sales team at all costs please
I still think that forcing you to use their app as a means of signing in is, for a lack of a better term, annoying. However charging the customer for a keychain card is ridiculous. At least the app is free to download.
The men's locker room is clean and well lit. The showers are nice, clean and fairly private plus there is good water pressure for the showers. The gym itself looks nice and appears to be very clean. The high ceilings are very nice and lends itself to making the place appear bigger than it is. However, I find their lack of available machines frustrating. Only one leg press machine for the entire gym? Meanwhile there are like 3 to 4 pec fly press machines. Oh and some of the machines are already showing wear and tear.
The free weights are almost always in use, so you'll have to make adjustments to your workouts based on the availability of weights. I've grown more accustomed to the crowds there and I've been able to get in a full workout the last few times I went. However, I still say that unless you go very early or very late you may encounter some difficulty getting your full workout in since this place is still fairly new and still fairly crowded.
I took the complimentary fitness assessment and I must say I enjoyed it. The workout was very thorough and exhausting but it did the trick. The trainer, Avery, was very patient with me and incredibly supportive and knowledgeable. If you get a chance, and if you haven't used up your complimentary assessment, speak with Avery. Sadly they ask for too much for even the weekly physical trainer service here. I joined this gym because it was closer to home and it was about $5 less a month than my old gym (which has now closed). To ask for another $120 a month to see a guy once a week is just way too much.
Oh and the pool is pretty good and clean although it's kinda small and can get...
Read moreAs a regular member of LA Fitness, I have appreciated the convenience and accessibility of their locations. However, one glaring issue has become increasingly difficult to overlook in the LA Fitness of Union is the outdated gym equipment. While the facilities are generally somewhat clean and spacious, the equipment often feels like it belongs to another era.
Aging Equipment
Many of the machines show significant wear and tear, with faded labels, squeaky mechanisms, and outdated technology. These issues not only diminish the overall workout experience but also raise concerns about safety and effectiveness. Fitness technology has advanced significantly in recent years, yet LA Fitness of Union seems to lag behind in adopting newer, more user-friendly, and ergonomically designed machines.
Lack of Attachments
One particularly frustrating issue is the lack of standard attachments for cable machines and other equipment. It’s disappointing to find essential attachments missing during peak hours, and many of those available are old or worn out. As a result, I’ve had to purchase and bring my own attachments just to complete a proper workout. This inconvenience is a clear sign that it’s time for LA Fitness to invest in modernizing their equipment inventory.
The Need for Modernization
In a competitive fitness industry, it’s crucial for gyms to stay up-to-date with current trends and technologies. Members expect a variety of functional, well-maintained, and innovative equipment to achieve their fitness goals. Adding updated machines, touch-screen interfaces, and a broader range of attachments would not only enhance the user experience but also attract and retain members who are considering other fitness options.
Conclusion
LA Fitness of Union has the potential to offer a stellar workout experience, but the outdated equipment and lack of standard attachments are holding it back. It’s time for a much-needed investment in upgrading the facilities to meet the expectations of modern gym-goers. Members should not have to compromise on quality or bring their own equipment to make up for these shortcomings. I hope LA Fitness takes these concerns seriously and prioritizes equipment updates in the...
Read moreIt’s a new nice building, BUT there are some issues with this gym. •They don’t have sanitizing wipes or spray for the equipment. All they have a sanitizing dispenser mounted on a wall (the one you use for your hands) and paper towels right next to it. The guy, who works there, told me that I need to grab a paper towel dispense a sanitizer on top of it and clean my equipment that way. •I usually do a functional training and need different equipment( mat, weights, fitness balls, step , etc.) I saw a room that was absolutely perfect for it, it had literally everything in it, so I went in for a workout. Prepared everything and was kicked out. The worker walked into the room and told me that I can’t be there unless I am with a personal trainer. I asked him why and he said that I will be responsible for everything that is in a room( the room had two mirror walls and two glass walls, you can see everything that’s going on inside. Also, how is it that I am all of the sudden responsible for what I use in the room, but not responsible for any other equipment in the gym?). Anyway, I went to another room( a big one for fitness classes) , but the rack with weights was locked. I was really frustrated because I never had such issues with any other gym that I went to. •Just to clear things up, they DO have a big area with all those machines, free weights, and cardio equipment. And if those are all you need , you should be fine (except bring your own sanitizing wipes) •Pool that I was very excited about is 3’ - 4’6” deep. I’m not sure if they advertise is as kids pool only or not, but you have to keep this in mind.
Two stars...
